I posted this in the general tech. section, but thought I would hit both.

So here is the latest problem. Drove my 95 355 this afternoon. Parked it to go to a meeting. Jumped back in and now the tach either doesn't work or jumps around like a old Smith chronometric( you know those Peter!). If I tap the glass it will move like it is stuck internally. So I don't think it is a sensor or sending unit. Should I take it out and send it to Hollywood speedo or just look for a new one? Thanks for any help.

If you need a new (used) one, we can probably help.

It is easy to get to the tach....I would do some more diagnosis first. Below the instrument binacle, there are two Phillips head screws. Remove those and you can lift the binacle up and remove the various electrical plugs. It could simply be that one is loose or not fully seated. Might also be a grounding issue. Check all that before replacing the tach.
