I agree. I've been casually looking for a while. Prices keep climbing and any low mile F40's that pop up, don't last long at all. The car gives me the chills and I haven't even driven it yet. This car was only driven 60 miles since 2007. Complete history, manual, all tools. It's near perfect.
I'm in awe... Am I reading your posts wrong? You just picked up a super awesome looking 599 GTO and F40 and it's like no big deal... You had a previous 599 GTO and you still have or had a CS & Scud...What else do you own? Seems you collect/buy the hotest cars out there, I'd love to hear more about how they drive or how you drive them and more pics too for the droolers... Do you track the Scud what're you gonna do with the F40? Me fairly envious if not skeptical...
LOL. I have an addiction to supercars and race tracks. I've owned over a dozen Porsches and the F40 and GTO are number 9 & 10 for Ferrari's. I keep anywhere from 3-6 cars at a time. It's my only vice, so my wife is tolerant. I have 3 Porsche Cup cars that I use on the race track. a 964 EuroCup, a 993 SuperCup and a custom built Cayman Cup. I've driven my Challenge Stradale and the Scud on the track, but not all out. I won't drive the F40 or the GTO on the track unless I'm out there alone. I'm actually trying to get my buddy to take his red Porsche 959 out on the track with me and the F40 for a piece in a national car magazine. No need to be skeptical. There are a bunch of people on FChat and T... that have seen my cars.
Well my sincere apologies for the inference but I suspect you understood... And well I suppose my envy and 1000 questions should remain in check. But if I may, are all the aforementioned possessions insured regularly or is the trick in using "special insurance"? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to justify insuring 4 cars let alone a half dozen or more. My Cali alone is $3600+ a year. Best of luck to you and surely if you could more pics would be awesome...
I actually have a special insurance policy with one of FChat's sponsor. HWI. Hayden Wood Insurance. It's a unique all inclusive property policy. The collector cars are basically insured like jewelry. The track car policy is also great. You pay insurance for the highest priced car and the others are all automatically covered. The only provision is only one car on track at any time. HWI's policy is a must have for multiple exotic or collector car owners. Thank you for comments. I'll post pics of the cars side by side once I get them home.
Congratulations! Awesome car! I hope you enjoy it haha If you come to Spain one day you can take me for a ride on this F40! hahaha
Beautiful and effectively new. Allowing for inflation your car actually cost you less today than it would have had you bought it new in 89, so you got a deal as well! Enjoy. you will.
I received a PM that made me realize, my above post could create confusion. With HWI, if you have multiple cars that you want to track, your insurance premium is based on the highest value car. All cars of lesser value are are automatically covered too. But, you can only have one of your own insured cars on the track at a time. So you can't have a buddy driving your car A, while you are also on track with your car B. You are always allowed to be on the track with other cars, such as an HPDE environment (no timed racing). HWI's policy is outstanding.
I know Mr. "06spider" as a long time friend and colleague. Believe me, he is legit and one of the nicer guys you could share a passion like cars and race tracks with. Also one of the most "generous of spirit" people with his passion. (BTW, wonder if he'll admit that I helped goad him out of Corvettes into other makes way back in our first ever meeting ha ha) I for one am very happy for him...I'd have envy but I am sure he'll let me drive the cars at some point (right? ha ha). HWI is the best solution for insurance, will +1000 that. He covers just about everything for us, including 2 road Fcars and my track and racing. Given that so many of these cool cars live in anonymity, it's also awesome that he's willing to share his toys. He is also lucky like I am to have a wonderful wife who is more than supportive but is actually engaged in this.

Thanks for the kind words Al. And yes you got me off Vettes and into Porsches, you are also responsible for getting me back on the track. Even after all that my wife still likes you. I have take responsibility for getting into Ferraris, so you are off the hook on that one. .
