Looks like he's not giving up his career for bashing others : Former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve has accused the media of tarnishing sales of his debut album. The French Canadian recently turned his attention to releasing 'Private Paradise' - a self-confessed semi-professional attempt to step up his hobby as a singer and songwriter. But Villeneuve, who turned 36 this week, lashed out at Montreal tabloid Le Journal for claiming that a mere 233 copies of the album have been sold so far. Instead, the former F1 driver thinks a figure of between 1,200 and 1,500 is more accurate, and branded the journalists responsible for the fit-up as 'idiots'. He said bad publicity due to the media not taking his project seriously has had a 'huge negative effect' on sales. Referring to the figures, Villeneuve admits: "They're not great (but) it's actually not that bad." "We were at 49 (in the charts), which is acceptable in the first week," he told Hour.ca. "Position 20 on the chart was about 50 CDs more. So it was taken out of context and people thought, 'Oh wow, that's really a piece of ****.'"
You mean you crack the top 20 on the Canadian charts by selling 1600 CDs?! No wonder Celine Dion got noticed.
Most charts actually ... maybe not some older American ones, but in Australia you only have to get your immediate family to buy the CD and you are number 1 for a few days Pete
No, Canadian record sales are at normal levels, I have no clue as to what he is talking about. It's curious I watched that show and didn't hear anything about the record sales. He did say on the show that he WILL RACE in NASCAR in 2008. Oh, he also said he was a total ****** bag.
Why is ****** a banned word? It's an important word and action. Could you imagine if all the hos didn't know what it meant? Holy ****! I'd spend 2 hours a day cleaning ****s just so I could **** them.
Maybe if there were an additional three zero's on the end of his numbers he could complain, but were seriously talking about a few hundred bucks here and a "Tin" album plaque.
