A hillarious look at the sad sad world of ricing. Remember: Friends don't let friends become ricers. Enjoy the site!

No offense but I've never been a fan of poking fun of those with their own passions. Yeah, I'm not fond of what and how most of these guys drive but, then again, Ferrari Club drives don't exactly abide by posted speed limits.

Most of these cars have some serious cash invested in them. To each their own; it's a free country. JMO. Dane

There are the Lamarossa's of the world that you can't help poking fun at and there are the guys that do in fact have serious money in their cars and it's mostly under the hood. I crack up at the bolt-on crap and fart pipes that guys put on their cars and think they are hot ****.

I lean towards DTV's thoughts if the owners of these cars are true enthusiasts and not gang-bang'en punks that 'rice out' their cars with crap from Kragen's (Plastic spinners, cheap fins, 8" tach's mounted to their steering wheels, making their cars look like Lambo's, etc).

I can't laugh at Ricers. Just about any ricer can suck the headlights out of my 330 2+2 at the stoplights, and they seem to make it a point to show that they can do so. They are quick little buggers. All I can do is ignore them and try and maintain composure and dignity.

Anyone have the link to the couple of guys that took an old Honda that they put on EBay? This was the car with no rear doors where they featured it as a new form of air conditioning, a 4' tall fin made of wood and a ton of other stuff? That one was a classic!

I give em props for loving what cars. It may not be my definition of a cool car but at least they are car guys. I raced a couple guys in a riced out civic and a prelude while I was in my 355. We stopped while I got gas. I checked theirs out and they did the same to mine. They were cool guys that made slow cars fairly fast. I had to give them credit for doing that.

Nothing to do with passions here :D

Well, I don't like those cars, but I (generally) don't approve of making fun of people. To each his own. For example, I note that one of the pointing "laughers" was wearing Birkenstocks. That's what I call irony.

I drive a Honda and I think most of these kids who spend thousands making a car look fast are silly. But, I'll commend a guy who brings his car to the autox or track and drives the hell out of it.

Perhaps, the same can be said for what a 308's 30K costs!

I guess with my old 190E 2.3 I was a "Papy Jacky." I was over 20, too. But no small spoiler.

Sometimes the term "Ricer" gets thrown out too loosely at every car thats imported and modded. I actually see some pretty CLEAN cars in there that I would never consider a "Ricer".

I agree. Case in point. I used to have a Honda VTX 1800C. Despite the fact it was made in Ohio by Americans, I still received the "ricer" comments from the Harley crowd. Interesting since my two previous bikes were Harley's and my Harley jacket even said, "Made in China."

On point to the thread, I see some pretty tasteful Honda's and the like out there. Dane

Luckily the whole "rice" thing seems to be dying down a bit...

I am not at all trying to poke fun at those car enthusiasts that upgrade their vehicles but instead, it is the guy with 5 different body kits and an ironing board on the back that trips me out. Again, if you have some nice sneakers, exhaust, paint, tint, etc. then your car is sporty. However, if your ironing board err spoiler can't fit under your garage, then its a little excessive.

Since you are in CA, and fads and things hip evolve and then move inward, or even just... Eastward from CA, that means we have to put up with it for another 12 years here in Texas.

It happens in every community, you always have the full spectrum. I have seen stuff done to Ferraris that had me rolling on the ground laughing. I've been in the sport compact community for years and we laugh just as hard as anyone else at someone bolting a huge aluminum wing on the back of their stock 94 Saturn. That is far from representing everyone in the community as however. I can appreciate any one taking any platform and trying to make it perform better. In my opinion, the more original it is (as long as it works) the better. I know just as many people who laugh at the thought of dropping 150k on a car when they can build one that is quicker in every messure for a tenth of the price. Their value is obviously in performance and not passion. Just as many import owners look to value and don't really care about the passion that went into building their car, they care more about the passion they themselves put into it to get it where it is. We're all car guys, laughing at each other doesn't get us very far.

Wait for it.. wait for it...

    And a resounding...

    Damn. :(

Mainly because you're absolutley right. To stay on topic, I call any vehicle with modifications that don't help performance or (IMO) aesthetics, ricers. It's kinda limited to Japanese orgin vehicles though. Or other things with engines smaller then soft drink bottles.

OK...beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in a visual sense...but the boom cars with the rap blasting are an insult to the ears and more often than not to the eyes as well.

Thanks! My God that is a funny link. If you can't LOL at this one, your sense of humor needs a sanity check!
