Not necessary .. there will be a prompt to delete unused brands .. refuse that every start up and whatever software you have , functionality you have will remain If a new function comes out for the 360 of course you will not be able to download new version I believe depending on where you bought it from - the pricing structure has changed and you can buy brands A la carte - inexpensive compared to a full update Hope that helps
