As far as I know, it's just the controlled skill of your right foot.

USA F430s do not have LC.

You dont want to LC the F1 clutch, you wont get much life out of it and the 430 is not so much an off-the-line car IMO. If you want a 0-60 beast buy a 997 TT S with dual clutch (0-60 in 2.6sec) or a Nissan GTR (2.9sec on the 2012 model).

Someone here had a clever acronym definition for LC, I cant remember, so how about Liquidate Clutch?

    Get the car in neutral

push and hold the left paddle until the L flickers on the dashboard

    release paddle and hit gas

It worked in my Scuderia, and I tought I did not have LC. It eats the clutch, and I doubt it is any quicker than the easy launch. It puts a good show.

Expect to do it 3 times and then replace the clutch.

Hey - go buy an F430 and pop the F1 clutch all you want. No skin off my nose.

There's a reason why FNA didn't want Launch control on the USA car. They knew us crazy American's would drag race it at every stop light.

They were afraid of having a shortage of clutches! :)

Anyone know if you can plug a LC button you order from overseas in? 99% of cars use the same wiring harness and just eliminate the switch. ECU upgrade needed? You'd have to put it under your seat and extend the wires if the connectors and electronics are all inplace?

I dunno, it's just a -throw it out there- comment after having a few beers with others that were wondering the same.

Did not work on my 2006 F430 Spider, tried tonight. After 5-10 sec of holding the left paddle, the car beeped several times and showed the red box error light and the F1 display still showed "N". I was in CST OFF and N at a stop.

IIRC the gearbox error message actually engages proper launch control, and that's the one that'll eat your clutch.

The ''button'' Launch Control in EU cars allows the system to dumps the clutch and have a tire smoking start, but not as quick as the ''hidden'' launch control.

For straight line drag and with CST off, does anyone know if it's quicker to leave the car in auto or shift manually? I have heard that it's quicker to leave in Auto for perfect shifts. Anyone has experience comparing the two methods?

That is one of the most ridiculous posts I've seen here in a while. Launching the car is really not pushing it to its limits. Its more about burning out parts that would normally have lasted many times longer if used correctly. I doubt many owners would agree with your post, regardless if they have the money or not.

I have no idea why I never thought of to try this. One of the issues I always had was that if you leave in Sport Mode in the F430...it will perfectly shift at 8,500 rpms for you....however...there is a slight lag/delay in the shift while in Sport Mode.

If I switch to Race Mode...the tranny shifts faster/crisper but it won't shift for you at 8,500 rpm...you have to "manually" shift yourself. I never thought about putting it in "Auto".

Was hoping others can provide some feedback too on this.

For my 06 F430 Cab I smell lots of clutch if I use Sport mode and redline shift. (auto or manual shifting). maybe its just my car? Maybe because I have a spider I am more prone to smell it.

If you smell it you are causing excessive wear IMO.

I have always redline shifted all of my high power convertibles and have NEVER smelled clutch (unless I botched up the shift).

Redline shifting in sport mode should put very little wear on the clutch - wear occurs when the clutch is being slipped. High rev changes which occur very quickly don't cause wear - If the gear shift is happening correctly then look elsewhere for the cause of the smell.
