I just signed a contract for a 2007 599 GTB. Before going on a test drive, I have asked about the Launch Control system and was informed that by using it the clutch will wear extremely quickly. Actually they said that after half a dozen accelerations with the Launch Control the clutch will need replacement. Who has relevant experience?
I will probably never use this feature because it is designed for the racetrack - but nevertheless it is hard to beleive that this should be the case since there is no respective warning printed in the owner's manual.

Peter- Launch control is very rough on the clutch since it trades clutch slip for keeping the engine in the fat part of the torque curve. For older cars with the single plate clutch like a 575M or 360, what the mechanics say is likely true. For the 599, I seriously doubt a half dozen LC starts would completely trash the clutch. It would, however, take quite a bit of life out of the twin friction plates.

Anybody here on FChat actually had to change the clutch on a 599 or OTO 612? Have not read any stories about complaints on the dual plate clutch wearing prematurely. Very tough clutch.
