One of my co-workers has an e55 and wanted to see how it ran up against my 06 G. Well from a dead stop i couldn't get close to him. For some reason on the G when its hit hard, there is a major hesitation. This is with AND without ESP.

Is there a good trick to getting the G to launch right away? Needless to say from 20 and 30 i walked past him, but from a dead stop there was only 1 run that i could keep up because by the time i was moving he was already 60' out.

Thoughts? What's the trick to get this thing rolling quick off the line?

    Thanks
    Joe

Joe - do you have e-gear? I've got e-gear and find I have the same hesitation problem. Not sure if it's the AWD or e-gear specific. Curious to see others responses.

I have not tried it, but the owners manual says, turn off traction control and put in "sport" mode. Be careful, I don't think the car will automatically shift at redline when you are in Sport mode.

I have the same thing happen to me. But then again a Ferrari 360 is the same way and the 430 probably the same as well. Stick is better for a 'real' launch

Last night i ran it in sport and traction off and still the same thing. When i hit the gas, there is a second+ delay where the car literally just sits and sometimes starts just a bit, bogs and then takes off again.

Did you floor it Joe? I think launch mode only activates if you're to the floor. Although I wouldn't recommend doing it anyway for a casual race with your friend since I've heard that less than 10 launch mode starts can wear a clutch out. I haven't tried it in mine yet, I'm waiting to actually take it to the strip, then I will have hard numbers so I don't have to launch like that again. :)

I stopped doing he performance launches 10 months ago.

The E-Gear setup really isn't really able handle them and
youi can't be certain it will even performed as advertised
    every time!

I calculate about 1000 miles of clutch wear for every launch.

ive floored it a few times and also just even tried partial throttle, no matter what i do it has the hesitation. Dont need mass power at the start, i just don't get why there is such a delay once gas is applied.
