So Tsunoda is not leaving RB for 2025 - where does that leave the other seat and its potential occupants - will they dump Ric for Lawson as the latter must be ripe for a full time seat or does he get released for Ric to get another year ?

DannyRic has got to go. Buddy boy got greedy and missed his chance; time for him and his shoe to head to a press box somewhere.

Does it matter. They arent even playing for poles lol. Tsunoda is not going to RedBull ever. Lawson is unknown overall and with the new regulations coming he might not do as well as others think. This is a mid pack team and permanently. RedBull are not really using it for driver development as they did in the past. Its a value consideration for them as its a nice growing asset on the books under the franchise system in F1. Lawson is also not the next Max is he?

JV won the WDC in a car that was unbeatable, they pulled him off his couch to make controversial comments ..... job done, now go back to your couch

I think Liam would have made a better fist of it up to this point , waiting to se what happens in the race

Mekies is happy with both Yuki and Ricci. It will be interesting as to what is agree'd between HornerBull and RB.

I’ve always liked JV but his comments regarding Desi were strange, especially as they were fairly close to the chest. It immediately brought to mind his own ignominious release from Sauber when Kubica’s times during practice sessions were undeniably quicker than the WDC’s. Jacques was bounced shortly thereafter half way through the season…so why he’d want to venture near some unpleasant history with his own career as a veteran driver by ranting about DR is beyond me.

+1 poor taste. He could have offered his thoughts with a bit more class. I know he's blunt but its that style he used so easily tuned out. Useless actually. As if any driver has not had issues, notably JV as you point out. He is no angel. None of them are. They get paid to drive in elongated circles. Nothing else. Not curing cancer or anything else of use. Entertainment is all it is. Ricci had every right to defend himself. Glad he did. That type of useless analysis only makes bold the filth on the web and social-trash-media. Indy Car just saw a nice episode of that.

An element of his own bitterness left over from his time on the grid due to his release it appears.

Villeneuve was rude, as always, but honestly, what can we expect from Ricciardo at this moment. He´s in a team whose only purpose is to test drivers and he had his chance: next!

JV was very blunt but spoke mostly the truth. His question of why DR is still in F1 is a very fair question. His assumption that he is only in F1 because of his image and not his results is something I completely agree with. Who wouldnt? But I do think Ricciardo earned his respect and was rightfully looked at as a top level driver from his performances 2012-2020. After joining McLaren, for whatever reason, he's been a dud. I can understand being beat by Lando, but he got thumped. Rookie Piastri did even better against Lando. But to be consistently beat by Yuki? We should remember that Lawson stepped in and beat Yuki.

Maybe someone should put some of Jacques Villeneuve' own stats under his nose when he goes too far.
After his 3 first years at Williams in a dominant car, JV never won anything, and his track record wasn't glorious.
If JV thinks that Ricciardo is "over the hill" (I think so too BTW), he should remember that during his last 5 years in F1, he himself finished 12th, 16th, 21st (!!!), 14th and 15th in the WDC ranking, and go a bit easy on the Australian.

Why is everyone jumping down the throat of JV and throwing his career in his face? He was hired as a commentator/analyst for the Canadian GP and he was asked a direct question and gave a very direct response. His career achievements has no bearing on if his take was correct or not. Yet so many people feel the need to invalidate his opinion based on his driving career.

Oh please grow up. He lacks tact. His own bitterness came out lol. His take is his opinion nothing more and was pathetic overall. As if the question is anything new about Ricci. Its MaxBull/RB decision no matter what JV wants to spout about it. He said ZERO new. Everyone jumps down his throat because they can. Your new here to all this??

For the record, i think it was really stupid of JV to say those things on air. Completely, utterly, unprofessional. Really shows what an educated fool JV is.

That's some playground bullying tactics right there. You don't like the guy that spoke the truth about someone you like, therefore you think it's okay to bully him because you can. But I'm the one that needs to grow up?

What's odd is that you basically say you agree with him, that it's nothing new. You can complain about how he said if your feelings are really that hurt, but why does the facts he said somehow get devalued by his career? Are the facts even less truthful because you are upset with how he spoke or because you don't like him?

Throwing out accusations and a condescending eye roll is well mannered?

For the record, I do not like JV. But he wasn't wrong about what he said. Regardless of right or wrong, his driving career would not make his comments any more or less true.

@SS, I had already noticed that you had no sense of humour. This confirms it.
There are many truths that don't need to be broadcasted. In the case of JV, he completely lacks of tact.
I think he should walk on tiptoes before criticising Ricciardo, or anyone.
The end of his own career wasn't so glorious, AFAIK.

If you meant it as a joke, it didn't come across well through text. Besides, you have a history of making personal attack against people which you so kindly demonstrated again.

Back on point. Maybe he does lack tact. Maybe he could have worded it better. Those are fair points. It was pretty blunt and harsh, but also true.

You go on to illustrate my exact point. He has to "tiptoe" or refrain completely from the truth because his past career? Does that mean we all should STFU because none of us are in the top 5 F1 drivers of all time? Being an F1 driver isn't good enough, being a world champion isn't good enough either. I wouldn't care if it was Ant Davidson, Ted Kravitz, or some random person like yourself that was on TV saying exactly what JV said. I give kudos to anyone having the sack to tell the truth to such a wide audience, while perhaps harshly directly. I said a very good question based on a bundle of facts. I support that.
