    Gang,

Yes, 355 headlamp motors are pretty legendary for going on the fritz at some point and requiring servicing. Mine, however, is behaving a little differently from what I've read in the posts.

My drivers side headlamp works intermittently, which means sometimes it comes up right away, sometimes it comes up after a few seconds, sometimes not at all. the passenger side pops right up; the drivers side is usually a tad behind (when it pops up, that is.)

What I noticed last night was that it failed to come up all. I turned the lights off and on again and it still failed to come up. I pulled over and lifted the front bonnet to fiddle with the manual override. As I started to turn the knob, I could feel the motor trying to engage...and then up popped the headlamp bucket.

So, my impression is that the motor appears ok, but the lift mechanism is sticky. Does this sound reasonable and, if so, can a good quirt of WD-40 or another lubricant resolve the issue?

    thanks all.
