Soccer, worldwide, 2 hours and sometimes a lot longer. NFL, 3 hours. Baseball, normally 3 hours or as long as it takes. NASCAR, as long as it takes. Tennis, worldwide, as long as it takes. Formula One as a spec series. I thought it was one now. Without paint could viewers tell the difference between Ferrari, Lotus, Mercedes, Caterham, Red Bull. Formula One doesn't have a broadcast problem. They have a product problem. What should scare F1 management is Zipcar. A generation in their early 20's values access to an automobile more than owning the automobile. So if you do not make a connection with a particular brand what is F1?
Personally i would like to see strategically mounted 50 calibers on each car, aero friendly of course. No DRS zones..................50 cal zones.............. calzones get it))) italian joke.......
After today's race HRT and Caterham set a modern day record. Most races without scoring a point. These are the teams that we are ruining F1 to include?
Agree with both of you. LdM being an idiot again. Perhaps he's right on the testing cost of a small flap, but if they weren't allowed to do wind tunnel testing, their big red dog would be scrapping for points still. And then he would be *****ing about not being able to spend dollar.
I could be wrong (!), but I'm pretty sure; - Driver salaries have always been excluded from any RRA. - LdM is, in fact, on record as being in favor of saving money back in 2009. +1 [EDIT, or should I have said "+.2" ] I get your point, but that's not really how it works. [Ducks & covers while waiting for the inevitable mass damper argument to re-surface ] While true, any successful series (or whatever really) needs to pander to it's largest audience. And with all due respect, that's not Australia. Or the USA! [This early morning **** is killing me! ] Cheers, Ian
Are we ruining F1 though? The top teams pretty much remain the top teams. Midfielders ebb & flow and the backmarkers have always been there - There's been some absolute **** on the grid in years past! The grids are, for now at least, full. Hasn't always been the case as we know. And finally, they're closer together now than they've ever been - A solitary second covered the top ten around a 5+KM road course! Even your "hated" backmarkers aren't far away. Again, it hasn't always been that way. Cheers, Ian
