Found this youtube footage in a vintage thread at the F-car section of this forum :). Thought this could be of interest to us Maseratisti as well....

The movie was made by Triumph and focuses on the cars that factory entered at Le Mans in 1961, but Maseratis (Birdcage Tipo 60 and Tipo 63) can be seen throughout the movie. The Tipo 63 driven by Thompson and Pabst came in fourth at the end...

Very nice video! Huh!...at 16:21 the Ferrari bouncing in the banking is really "hairy"!

Same place - Tertre Rouge - where Walt Hansgen crashed out with the Tipo 63 (at 13:53)...

That was great Walter. Only bits of Maserati footage but good fun.

My favorite parts were: the drivers in golf shirts and other such safety gear, the high tech IBM computer, the rotisserie chicken, the lounge singer and the Triumph driver chugging a beer.

The Porsche at about 25:28 with flywheel trouble: what model was that? (From certain angles I thought a 904, but that can't be right).

Despite several heroic efforts (with various Tipo 151 and Tipo 65) it would go twelve years before another Maserati-engined car (a Ligier JS2) would again cross the finish line at the end of a 24h du Le Mans.

My favorite part is -beside the cars!- the chap (time keeper) who sits in this "glass house". Very funny!

Interesting is, that the 2nd Tipo 63 made it to 4th OA. It was the best Maserati result ever in Le Mans! Not bad for such a mis-credited car like the T63....
