I looked at that but with only 4 weeks left the availability is sh**e and it was looking to be V expensive and while i love LeMans im not gonna pay the amount they were quoting! Chris
Chris, There are often people offering seats on the Club Arnage forum as well: http://www.clubarnage.com/yabbse/index.php?board=4
Guys, i was wondering if you guys know of anywhere where i can catch the British Lions game vs Otago, or part of the game. It will kick off at 9.10 am French time on the Sat morn (18th). French aren't involved so could be tricky. Any suggestions or forget about it ?
There are usually a few people in the campsites with satellite TV connections. Look around and I am sure somebidy will be showing it.
Guys, as the trip is getting nearer and nearer and im going to be away a bit on stag doo's and business trips for the next couple of weeks. I thought i would ask a few questions to the Le Mans vetrans. What sort of food.drink are you taking with you ? Im guessing there are local shops and maybe a supermarket around but do they get too busy etc ? Anythig esle i should be thinking about bringing apart from the obvious stuff. Got a couple of collapsable chairs im going to try and get in. We'll be arriving into the campsite, im guessing around 6.30 - 7 pm on the Thursday night, depending on how quickly i drive on French soil seeing as though the local law enforcement will be everywhere. Where and whats going on that evening ? Any solid plans where we can catch up with you guys ? Cheers guys, sorry to be a pain C
Le Mans essentials: 1/ Toilet roll 2/ Headache pills 3/ Waterproofs ( hopefully wont be needed ) 5/ Portable radio for Radio LeMans - otherwise you will loose track of the race completely 4) All else can be found locally There is a Carrefour Hypermarket a few minutes away from the circuit on the Tours / Le Mans road (N138). There are also local supermarkets in Arnage, and Mulsanne. Food is easily obtainable locally, but dont try and go out on Saturday morning unless it is really early If you are leaving on Sunday make sure your car has plenty of Fuel as it is hard to get in France on a Sunday Thursday night is second qualifying usually 7-9pm and 10-12pm - we could meet somewhere for a beer if you are up for it - maybe the champagne tent at 10pm? If youve not been before the first taste of night racing is special!
Its the blue surge he is talking about. One fanny plug slyly dropped in the local gendarme's petrol tanks prevents them trying to catch us speeding home.
mph? kph? metres/second? In addition, frommy memory of school exchanges to France they sell the mini-dynamite stick fireworks or "bangers" as we called them. Chufty plug tubes are great ways of firing these off with increased accuracy/noise.
I think Nizza will set off on Monday and even then he will be cutting it fine. He will be doing some driving between polishes but knowing the quantity of bugs and dirt on the way to Le Mans I fear his progress will be slow.
Thanks for the tips mate. You staying in the VIP Camping with Airtrack ? Anyone esle on the 2.45 Speed Ferries from Dover on the Thursday ?
Another thing you cannot forget going to LeMans is a torch! Trying to find your way back to a tent at god knows what time when your pissed as a fart is not fun without a torch! Also going for a midnight piss a torch comes in handy! For me i always take a power inverter that i can run of the ciggy lighter so that i can power cameras and such, not such a big thing for most of you but powering 3/4 cameras and 3 flash guns isnt easy when camping! A lightweight and compact brolly will be a lifesaver if the rain does come! Folding chair is nice to sit in and chill out with a beer at the campsite. Bottle opener! Matches/Lighter and appropriate fire starting material - (White spirit/Petrol/etc! ) Sun tan cream! Be optimistic! Thats about all the essentials i can think of. Chris
Ta for that, just registerd and posted in a thread! If there is anyone here who has a spare seat then i would love to be able to take it up! Chris
Nothing wrong with students! lol I was lucky, for my first year i had the knowledge of my Dad who i went down with and he's a LM's veteran since 1988 so he gave me all the usefull tips on what to take! Looks like i may have found a ride! I might be seeing some of you guys there for a friendly beer or two! Chris
Lol, if you think students are bad, what about all the dossers who dropped out after GCSEs, where are they going to be in 10 years time?
No I am in Maison Blanche Campsite, which just outside the track between the exit of Porsche Curves and the Ford Chicane
I believe the normal terminology for these is, "Government Ministers" (oh, bit political there, my name's Ben Elton, good night!) although they're sometimes also addressed as, "thank you for that lovely new job, Mr. Sugar." (oh, a bit topical as well, now then, moving on....). J.
