First WEC season started in 2012.
Ferrari are much more punished every year, but last 6 years they won 5 season in wec because Ferrari base design very strong. The Porsche and the Astons were always weak, but the bop helped them last years a lot.

    It's crazy.

Ferrari (AF Corse) are the reigning GTE Pro World Champions (team and drivers) but when it comes to
Le Mans, they always seem relegated to mid-pack runners.

Even more curious, Aston Martin which won the GTE Pro katagurry (nod to Hindbaugh) convincingly last
year but this year didn't even have a look-in.

There has to be a solution which is equitable for everyone.

Yes. I think that as in any form of racing or even business, the rules should be minimal so each party gives its best to succeed.

Every time the promoter wants to "balance" or minimize "equalities"....usually destroy the competitiveness. It is like this in sports and it is like this in business. ...There's always the children of a lesser god.

A pity what happened this year, in a race that could be the best racing event in the year.

Le Mans is not the best racing event imho
Nürburgring 24H and Spa 24H are much better.
Yes BoP but not same like Le Mans / ACO.

Awful Job by FIA and ACO, which has unfortunately become a slave of Todt. However, even in Blancpain and PWC Ferrari is alway the most penalized by the BOP, since in the world Ferrari is the most loved team by the good people, but the most hated by all competitors, especially German and English one.

The solution....suck it up,butter cups! This all started with the "we must play fair" socialism philosophy. Bailing out banks that are to big to fail and poorly run auto companies is where this nonsense started. Racing is simply a microcosm of society. So , enjoy the decline comrades !

I will agree with at. The best GT show is not to be seen at Le mans.

Le Mans caters mostly for LMPs, and the ACO is afraid that some cars in the GTE category, entered by factories and with professional drivers, could go faster than the specs LMP2 entered by private teams with their amateur (less graded) drivers.
That's why they restrict severely the potential of some GTE cars, and in doing so, completely disrupt the competition in that category.
The reason is that the ACO wants to maintain a pegging order at Le Mans: LMP1, then LMP2, then GTE Pro and GTE Am at the back.

Nürburgring 24H and Spa 24H (strictly for GT3) are run by different organisations.

Originally, Ferrari was the benchmark against which the BoP was calculated for all the other cars.

    It has changed since ...

Just came back to the world of WiFi, still touring along the Sarthe with my daughter. We went to the entire race. It was so much fun. Beer, piss, mud, and engine noise everywhere. Definitely coming back.

  10. Let us also not forget, he alone did not drive the car. ;)

It was real, no BoP bs, no req'd stint bs, no leveling the playing field bs. No orchestration bs period.

And we had the best that could be expected in '69, without any of the above bs.....
Build to a set of rules, run what ya brung, strategize and come what may.
Yes, 1969, a race you can wait a lifetime for (and maybe even then, not get) ;) :)

    A portion of the finish...

Agree. Too much politics for me but Porsche came to race and they delivered. I think they know what is needed and they bring it. Despite all the whining, the still bring it when it comes to endurance racing. LeMans has always been their playground, like it or not. Like you, Panzer is very happy with the outcome.
