It looked real enough to me but the steering wheel looked funny. Also it was very few days after the Maranello parade in which not ran dirty and less than a week before it was needed in Monza not to mention prep.

I heard that about the steering wheel too. Maybe it's a simple one used only for getting the car on and off a trailer and for being pushed around. The number 50 car ran clean during the Maranello parade. Cleaning a car only takes an hour or so. It depends on how many 499Ps have been built so far. I guess not a lot?

Very good point on the steering wheel and avoids damage/theft of the expensive and fragile real one.

I don't get the feeling they have more than a small handful of car right now and considering someone in the know told me they would charge 8M to any private owners who want one for 2024 that is a hell of a hurdle budget wise for any private team...

I have seen display cars for decades but did not get the feeling this was one.

Showing it during LMC was a must really.

My first sighting of a mock up bare shell display car was at the racing car show in Paris 40 years ago they had a Brabham Piquet car and I, naive teenager, asked why there was a piece of carpet riveted where the carburetor stacks should have emerged:)

I've compared pictures of the 499P at Le Mans Classic and during the Maranello parade. They're not the same car, unless a number of decals have been rearranged. Which is very unlikely. Also the 24h Le Mans decals are missing on the LMC car. Instead, it has the regular DHL decals. I do think the LMC 499P is a real car and not just a mock up. It's too detailed for that, including a number of tear-offs on the windscreen.

True, though the Le Mans stickers would be removed for the next race. They would be obsolete and out of place.

By the way the next edition is planned for 2025. So they change the cycle from even to odd years.

    Hi Marcel,

You can click on them for larger and better pictures (F-Chat compresses pictures too much).

Marcel, can you help me by telling how you see which cars are replica’s and how you see it?
