Oh, nice pictures. Looked like a fun weekend...tell us more!! I'd love some of the F-car shots in high res if you were feeling generous
great pics thanks ! I was there for the 2 first editions, definitevely my favourite event ! I will be there in 2008 ! the best moment is to be there on the friday morning, the night races is also something not be missed.
There you go... That was my first time at Le Mans Classic...in 2008 i'll go for sure with my 1971 911 instead of this year's rental peugeot. If you're a member of a car club you can drive 2 laps around the 13km legendary track. I had some regrets... really nice pics it seems that le mans is less "manufacturers" invaded than goodwood the spirit is still there
Right ! But , to be honest, the first diesel to race in le mans was - correct me if i'm wrong - in 1950. The french MAP "manufacture d'armes de paris" engaged a 4960cc 4 cylinder diesel that ran only 6 hrs. It was driven by Delacour, Veyron and Wimille. Maybe the "Deletrez" raced in 49,50,51 was also a diesel ?
I have been to all three, always a great event, however this years event was getting close to how Goodwood looks, more corporate stuff etc. It is also becoming very popular, which is a good thing except as it becomes more crowded so access will be curtailed, and its that closeness to the machinery that makes it fun. Piccys are great, if I can find my camera I will post some up. Maybe next time we could organise a meetup.
