A Learjet 55C operated by Ocean Air in Rio, departed the Rio waterfront Airport - Santos Dumont - had a technical emergency, lost radios, and made an emergency return landing at Santos Dumont.

On landing the Lear over ran the runway into Guanabara Bay, and under power, 'taxied' the aircraft (in the water) back to shore.

Pilot actually ground looped the lear on purpose, trying to avoid the water, and ended up in the water, pointing at the shore.

This is the 6th biz jet accident at this airport!!!! 3 Lears, 3 Citations, at least 5 ended up in the water.

Landed and taken off at SDU many a time in the F-100, A319/320 and 737...............if the pilot doesn't hit the stripes "and" the reverse thrusters at the same time you can be in trouble pretty fast........always seems to be the bizz jet jocks who do it too........
