I am looking into replacing my stock secondary cats (y-pipe to bypass valve) on a 5.2 355 with a "test pipe". Since my original exhaust ideas aren't going to work I am back to improving the stock system with better parts while I have the motor out. I have the stainless mandrel bends to make my own using the flanges from my stock one, but I do not want to waste my perfectly good stock part just for the flanges. The $1500 I am seeing for this part is rediculous.

Anyway, does anyone know of a source for these that has a realistic price? I can find reasonably priced "Test pipes" for the main cats (under $500), but not the secondaries. I don't care about brand name or anything. It is just a simple pipe, there is no magic to it and no reason to overpay like that.

Custom exhaust shop or smash out the insides.

I ended up ordering these from Fabspeed with a better package price with headers (had both in stock). Hopefully my stock one can be sold to offset the cost some. I will try to remember to report back once installed.

There is a possibility that Top Speed will make these in the future.......

The price of that aftermarket piece is hard to swallow. I have replaced the headers, main cats and muffler with aftermarket but still have the stock y-pipe. Supply and demand I guess.... but it seems like it should be similar in material cost and labor as test pipes which run $6-800.

I got a good discount, but still an expensive piece. I hope there is a market for my good used one to help offset the cost some. You might call Jeff and see if you can get the same price he gave me. If they start moving some, maybe they will get the price down permanently. There may be some competition on these at some point (made a lot of calls and got some people aware while looking for a less expensive alternative).
