I have a pint of original Connolly black 8500 lacquer based dye I was planning to use to re-dye my door cards. Not sure if this is a good idea or not. Most dyes now are water based. Does anyone have experience with lacquer based dye?

Waterbase is easier to work with & to clean up. Don't know it will match the overall appearance of the lacquer base. Ck with auto upholster. Way back when I owned a 246 we replaced with vat dyed from Scotland the entire leather interior.
