Well, it finally happened. My leather headliner fell out during a drive last week. I don't think gluing the headliner to foam and then gluing foam to the roof is the way to go, it'll only fall out again as the foam falls apart. I think gluing the leather to a 1/4" substrate would be better so you're gluing a hard surface to the roof. Has anyone tried to source such a thing?

Better to use new foam. I tried your shortcut and you end loosing the supple look feel of the leather. You end up seeing all glue imperfections.

What type of glue did you use? Also, most of the bonds with headliners fail due to the foam deteriorating which regluing won't help.

Joe buying new foam is key here. It's been 4 years so I'm pretty sure I used 3m high strength for high heat

If you don't use foam, there will be a 3/8" gap between the trim and the headliner all the way around.
I did mine myself, came out perfect, I posted a video on my channel
