How common is it to have an issue with the leather shrinking/pulling away on the dash? What’s the fix and how costly would it be (for example, the leather on the tach hood for an F12)?
Every Ferrari for the past twenty or thirty years has had this it seems possibly since glue got eco'd although allegedly the glue has now improved In general its a big fix as the whole dash needs disassembling
i would guess around 50% will have them. i have noticed the ones that are not garaged (i.e. dealerships outside) will develop it more frequently as it is a sun/heat issue.
I had mine done a few weeks ago and it was a $300 repair at the dealer just for the tach hood section. I have a 90% windshield tint and it has preserve my interior very nicely especially for a car that’s 9 years old. Sun is the biggest issue but also these “green” adhesives they’ve been using for years aren’t worth a you know what so the leather is susceptible to detaching. My Aston guy told me I should tint the windows as much as I legally can and also some on the front windshield (of both my Vanquish & SF) as well to protect the leather as these luxury leathers (if you will) are thin and easily damaged. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Yes I had that on my F12. You can find a leather guy to redo it wit OEM leather. I believe mine was $800 or so
I had the issue, dash piece that fits over the vent mounts in the center. Easy to remove, took to upholstery guy who fixed it, 80 EUR.
