I'm having trouble figuring out how to remove the top leather wrapped rectangle panel above my 1987 Testarossa's glove box????? the leather is shrinking in this area and is exposing the plastic panel.

What are the steps I need to take to gain access to the panel (through my glove box) in order to re-stretch and glue my leather back to original look?

I think you will need to take it out to make a good job of it.
Start by removing the panels underneath and to the rear of the glove box lid. From memory that exposes some of the fixings you will need to get too.

As Marcello di Luca, the factory tour guide said to me in 1998, (imagine an Italian accent) "The Ferrari customer demands the finest of materials." I told him the factory needs to consult with residents of California before they again do something as stupid as covering a dash in leather. I had the flat panel under the windshield recovered in a matching vinyl and no longer worry about drying/shrinking. Good luck removing old, dried leather and restretching it. You will be better off either redoing the entire dash in new leather or, better yet, killing a nauga and using its indestructible hide. Just my two cents.

Toby, once you get the piece out, inspect the piece for warpage as well. It can be reheated and bent back in to shape with a heat gun. When leather pulls, it tends to pull up the panel its attached to. I guess that a testament to the glue they were using.
