I applied Leatherique using the directions and it has removed some of the dye on my door panel which looked good before. I've used it on the rest of the interior and have streaks and it looks worse than when I started,. My '79 308 is old and the leather is needing help but I didn't expect it to cause me to re-dye now.
    Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about your problem. I was planning to use Leatherique soon too. Could you post some pictures to show the condition of your interior and the problem areas? That way maybe someone with some experience with the product can see where your starting point is and get you to where you wanted it to be. Good luck!

I experienced the same thing on my '85 308 (Saddle interior). After using Pristine Clean, I noticed the saddle color on the rag. I was planning a re-dye anyways so I wasn't terribly concerned; when i spoke with Leatherique I was told it could have been any number of other things, such as a previous re-dye, shoe polish, etc.

I noticed the dye removal was on the door panels and seats, where there was already a fair degree of weathering and the "initial" layer of original dye was probably worn or reacted more easily due to sun fading. Dye was not stripped from the sides of the center console or backs of seats.

I won't knock the product because it seems to be working well but I would suggest one use caution on well worn surfaces.

Which Leatherique product were you using on it? The Rejuvenate oil, the Cleaner, or ?

Has your interior been redyed? It could be the top coat of color coming off. (Side note: I've encountered quite a few owners of older Ferraris with redyed interiors who had no idea. If it has been sold at a dealership after being more than 10 years old, odds are VERY high they recolored it)

I've used Leatherique on Connoly leathers in Jaguar and Lotus and it worked okay, did not remove color.

Also, the Rejuvenate is supposed to make white spots and streaks, that you then use the cleaner to remove. Or something like that.

EDIT: I was typing this while redline76 was posting, if it seems redundant

Suggest that you contact George at Leatherique to discuss your concerns / experience. It is imperative that the instruction be followed to the absolute tee. I got great results by doing so but if you short cut it even by just not waiting the necessary time between applications you can really screw the job up. George is the owner and I found quite helpful coaching me through the process. email him. best of luck

I used both Leatherique products on my car and have had no problems.

That said, I noticed pigment on the cloth from working the interior. Hell, I freaked out finding pigment from the exterior when washing. But, the paint on my old car is a single stage lacquer.

The leather after applying product took a day or two to settle down again. In the end I think it is good to be treating it a couple times a year but then again what I am treating is 30 years old.
