Hey, Firstly, I guess I must apologize for invoking the profanity filter - I thought that's what it was there for. Anyway, seems my railing against the doomsdayers, naysayers, speculators, and those worried about damn sponsorship agreements demanding updates got it locked. Fair enough. How about we all STFU and leave the thread locked until there's some real news? Ie, from the hospital, Sabine or Corinna herself? If you're concerned about his endorsement deals, or insist that 'his team OWES us an update', please take it elsewhere. Godspeed Michael, Ian
Reckon we should unlock it - that thread is the first thing I look at every morning due to the members' desire to squeeze out that extra piece of info.....and it might be a very long time before we get any official statement. As for the bickering and difference of opinion, this pretty much sums it up : You guys are pretty amazing | A Former F1 Doc Writes Everyone's a bit emotional about Schuey, and no matter our opinions, as long as he pulls through, we'll all be happy.
yes...that's what I thought too....otherwise what's the point of it? You might as well just have a rule "no swearing" instead.
Yeah, I was confused by this too. I thought that the profanity filter was there for a specific purpos to allow us to speak freely. I have been told in the past to just type the word and let the filter take care of it. This message seemed to be a different message. I have sent an e-mail asking for clarification.
Very fair comments & the main reason I posed it as a question. I too pretty much fall asleep & wake up to this thread as it's one of the few places where BS may get reported, but then quickly rebuked if required. Thanks, Ian
OK, thanks! I know we have differing opinions on many things, and that's partly why we're here I guess, but I too was once PM'd 'warning' me to let the filter take care of it. I thought things like '****' were what was frowned upon. With apologies to the mods for trying to make the point.... ( oh dear, seems 's-h-1-t' gets caught too! ) Cheers, Ian
IMO an apology for the activation of the swear filter is unnececary. As others said, it's what it's there for, and secondly, we're all adults here and if people can't deal with a bit of swearing they should not be on the ****ing internet. This is not aimed at any one in particular, mind. Just my feelings at the use of swearing in public are quite lax. But then that might be because I'm Dutch... --- Should the thread be locked? I'm not sure. I read it whenever there's a new post in it and I have to say I struggle to not comment on posts made by others that are full of stupidity. I think Ian struggles with the same and has quite rightly come back at them in his own way, and he has all the rights to do so, I think there's nothing wrong with what he wrote (probably why I'm not a mod, then ). If people don't like it they can also put him on ignore if they feel the need to. No harm done... Full admiration goes to the mods though, seriously awesome job at moderating.
So, do we have any clarification about using the profanity filter. I, like you thought it was there so we could type and not worry about breaching any behavioral guidelines. I say leave unlocked. Let people speak.
People are expected to exercise self-control. I shouldn't have to penalise the majority for those few who cannot behave like respectful adults. Clarification on the profanity filter was made when I reopened the thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/433202-schumacher-had-bad-ski-accident-72.html#post142953390 All the best, Andrew.
