My take on it is that American slang words that sound insulting at first but mean "cool" or variations thereof, have a pretty long history (pays to be old so I can look back on this stuff). "Dumb" meaning "cool" was used like 40 years ago (anyone remember the advertising jingle for Hush Puppies shoes?). Off the top of my head, there's also "fat" (variant "phat"), "tough" (to mean "beautiful"), "b*tchin" (got edited out first time, LOL. Maybe I should've said "female dog-in") and I'm sure, lots of others, so "dope" fits right in. A final Geezer comment: When I was a kid, it was simple and there were only two meanings for "dope": a stupid person and the special paint used when building airplane models. To me, a poseur is someone who really doesn't care about cars for what it says about the CAR-- as either beautifully engineered machine, an expression of visual art or a creation that exemplifies excellence of performance and technical competence worthy of admiration, criticism and analysis, but rather looks upon a car as what it says about THEM, i.e. a personal adornment or statement of self-aggrandizement. Looking at the video, and maybe reading into it too much, I got the impression that they just brought the cars over for LeBron to look at and drive if he wanted to; not a sale. He may not even have known that a delivery of the cars had been planned by someone on his staff. Even if he owns a lot of cars already, I didn't get the impression from his body language that he really had a desire to actually drive the cars they brought over.
I was never good in English, but isn't the period supposed to be outside the quotation mark? Also capitalize "Not" since it's the first word after a period? This could go on forever
Using the grammar checker in Microsoft Word, the period inside and outside the quotation mark are both acceptable, but they suggest capitalizing the first letter inside the parenthesis. So, apparently both ways are acceptable. At least there probably isn't any proper grammar when texting.
Being a car nut I have NEVER been impressed with Unique Autosports. After watching "Unique Whips" I feel that the work done by this company is really over rated. One episode they totally "restored" an early 70"s Cadillac convertible (for whom I don't remember). They did Paint, Interior, stereo (the whole nine yards). the freeking paint job looked just like it was done at Maaco. They didn't do much prep, didn't spray under the hood or anything like that. The motor looked like total crap when the guy came to pick it up. If I was getting custom work done (on a classic or off the shelf ride) it would be by West Coast Customs only. Their work is amazing. No corner cutting at all. CEC on exotics and never buy a Ferrari or anything like that from anyone except a authorized dealer or a proven private party. I meet Castro at the CES show in Vegas last year and he was nice enough but his business comes from his personality and ability to kiss major a$$ and have people who don't know any better think that he knows whats up. Just my $.02
