    On that subject, how about a good LED replacement for the back up bulbs that cause the 355/360/550/575 tail lights to melt.

    I've converted -every- exterior light on the 308 to LED's, with the exception of the headlamps. Cool running with minimal current draw, which thus reduces the current flowing thru the fusebox and related switchgear.

    100% satisfied with the conversion, highly recommended.

    This technology is rapidly evolving, and one has lots of choices here.

    I'd suggest that you spend some time with a Google search and you'll find dozens of vendors. Then, spend some more time with their on-line catalogs. The one that I mostly used was: http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm but there are many others.

    I've looked at that company several times, never bought anything from them, but they do have quite a range in LED automotive lights.

    How do they look/work on your 308? Any pictures of before/after? I too am thinking of doing this as a precaution, mainly due to the imfamous electrical system on the 308s.

    Good point. In my case, I'd already done the glass fuse box upgrade, made my own (an easy job). {As an aside the OEM fuse for the electric fuel pump was well singed, so it would have failed pretty soon.}

    As far as the LED's, you sort of have to do your own experimentation. The 308 bulbs are all pretty standard 1156 / 1157 / 67 bulbs, so I bought a variety of different styles and tried them and saw how they looked.

    Generally speaking, the more LED's in a given bulb, the better.

    I bought many different bulbs from SuperbrightLEDS. Without exception, each white colored LED failed. I bought different versions (shapes) for door bulbs, parking lights, license plate etc. None of the other colored bulbs have gone bad yet. What I do find is that most LED bulbs put out much less light than normal bulbs. Even their really bright (and expensive) single LED replacement LEDs for brake lights and turn signals do not compare with standard bulbs. The first problem is they do not utilize any of the reflector in the lamp assemblies. Yes, you can get cheaper LED bulbs with 10 or 15 LEDs pointed in various directions but they simply do not have that much brightness.

    Overall I'm disappointed with the current LED offerings for replacement of standard automotive bulbs (and I've tried a lot!)
