Today I installed a pair of LED reverse lights on the 360. I highly recommend everyone do this because mine at 11K are already showing beginning cracks in the center reverse light lenses. This upgrade could save you hundreds in replacement tail lights.

The output is similar to the original with a bit more white 6000K color like the HID.

"This modification will save your tail light lens..."

Seriously.. Is this all that common of a problem?

Honestly, my car is never in reverse for more than 10 seconds. Not enough time or heat to do any damage.

You may want to do this mod for other reasons (different look, whiter color, etc.), but to save your tail lights??

    Call me skeptical.

Yes, my car with only 11K has small crack developing in the center of the clear lenses. Its true. If you use your tail lights over time, it will cause it the crack.

Don't believe me? I can send close up pictures.

Next step will be LED turn signals. That will be a bit more tricky. I'll let you guys know once I figured it out.

Same here, and I was told at the time that it was not uncommon. When I replaced the light unit I inserted lower wattage bulbs. Been good for 20k miles and 3 or more years.

My understanding is that bulging on the lens is fairly common. Like you I don't use R that much so not overly concerned. Then again, it is a 10 min change so I did it a long time ago. My experience is that the LED lights are not as bright as the stock bulbs but since I use R so seldom I didn't care.

Try grabbing that bulb that has been illuminated for 10 seconds with your bare hands. They get very hot very quickly. The close proximity of the bulb to the lens is the problem.

My car spends about 10 seconds a drive in reverse, i serious doubt its the "heat" from the reverse bulbs causing them to crack

its more likely the crappy italian plastic molding, and ENGINE HEAT and VIBRATION
