Does anyone know if any left side drive 250 LM's were ever produced. If not, why were they all ride side drivers? I've never seen a left side drive 250 LM. Thanks you.

See also the book "Ferrari 250 LM", published in 1983 by Osprey Publishing in London, covering all of the 32 units built.

29 RHD cars because 250 LM's are racing cars. Plus 3 LHD which were also raced.

I know it has been said before but those footwells look mighty uncomfortable if you were/ are driving with a co-pilot. Excellent photos, thanks Marcel

This driver from New Zealand was a bit taller than most who raced 250LM but seemed to get through ok with the small footwells.

The RHD are 4 pedals wide - #4 is the clutch dead pedal. This pretty much took up the entire area. Notice in the 2 photos from Marcel that ways to keep passenger feet out of the "working area" have been made.

    In addition it's
offset because of the wheel well, so driver is not in line with pedals. There is room for 3 feet , either you chose a single legged co driver, or he/she put the other foot on the sills. On top of feet work you also rob shoulders quite frequently as experienced in Tour Auto..

I was at Moroso Park during one of the early 'Cavallino' events and saw a grown man almost cry! He was quite a big fellow (not obese!) and was obviously concluding a deal on a 250LM with a salesman (possibly from Symbolic). After much good natured discussion he went to sit in the car - but couldn't! He tried for about 10 minutes but just could not contort his body to fit.

Lesson there. People of American footballer size need not save up for an LM!

A good European friend of mine owned one of these 250 LM's and since he drove his car regularly on the road he replaced his wife with a skinny, tiny and short Asian girlfriend with very short legs. That was the perfect solution for the tight 250 LM cabin. Today that former owner lives in Asia.

The tiny foot well is the least of the problems with driving one of these.

Heat can be a big problem. I have driven three 250 LM's and yes, a rolling sauna for sure.

I am 6' 5" tall and I can drive an LM. The problem is getting inside. I have to enter headfirst across the car so my head is in line with the passenger seat. Then I can pull my legs in and rotate my body to settle into the driver's seat. The passenger needs to ride with their left foot on top of their right foot. The driver and passenger will be touching parts of each others bodies that nobody else touches! Water pipes run next to the interior, so it is warm inside.

I really don't see your problem.......5903, an LM you are VERY familiar with used to have a sunroof (see also photo in Prunet's road car book page 423) and that would be a solution for you......

It was your comments about racing/ driving one on the Tour Auto that prompted me to write the post. Still a fabulous car.

Interesting article, that guy lives about an hour away from me, although it ends poorly with claims about the David McKay/ Scuderia Veloce car. That example (#6321) is still in Ralph Laurens collection and the car that sold for $14.3 million was #6107, a highly original, excellent example.
