I have a '94 348 tb. Last week the left side window lost power. Thankfully in the up position. It's not the fuse or the switch. I have check those. Any ideas why the motor would lose power? Anyway to check without taking the door apart? Thanks.
It's usually in the circular door jamb electrical connector (black plastic). Unscrew it by hand and take a peek.
Looks ok. It disconects the power to both window switches. What should I look for? Only the drivers' side is without power.
With it disconnected you should be able to unscrew the forward most connector in order to examine the actual wiring coming in to it. Likewise, you should be able to peel back the insulator to look at the door wiring where it connects to its black connector there.
Turn the key on, open the drivers door, hold the power window switch in the "down" position, grab the harness in the driver's door jamb, and wiggle it around. Chances are that the window will suddenly start moving when you make contact. Those silly pins can get loose, they can fry, or they can actually break in half. Here's a picture of what I found under the boot in my 348. I've seen much worse. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Or, it's time to take it to Ed. Tony Tag's car just left so there's room! Oh, and Andreas doesn't have anything residing there at the moment either; just John K's Lotus Esprit. In a few weeks, some of my cars will be there for maintenance and hibernation.
Absolutely right. The wire had come unplugged. The connector seems loose. Is there a way to tighten it up?
Tear the old POS connectors out and hardwire it. It's a big pain-in-the-butt project because the fender liner needs to be removed too, but it's worth it.
