Yeah, he used sealed bags...and he had a tray underneath for condensation. He called it his date option (as in, his dates didn't want to ride in a car with no AC).

ok, i have had it on for 5 hrs now and not a glimpse of power. Should I turn the master power switch off? Does that make sense? so maybe that will help with the fact that the hood is up? Will it charge the battery with that switch off?
I don't see any switch to turn on the charger. It seems to be flashing. Not making any noise though. SHould it? ARGH

Too many variables. If you have a trickle charger, then it probably won't save a completely dead battery (they tend to be for maintaining a battery more than for saving them) with your hood up or down. Many of the newer trickle chargers make no noise when charging, however.

On a real battery charger, you're going to hear its internal transformer hum a little when it is charging, and it will have a gauge or two that will move a needle substantially on the charger itself while charging to show where you started, the voltage it's using to charge, as well as how much charge is being accepted by your battery.

I don't know what type of charger you're using, so I can't be of more help.

i have the Ferrari optional charger. Sticker option. No gauges. No sound. Just 3 lights

    ON--lit
    80%--flashing
    100%--flashing

Thx again for help. I dont see where I could connect a regualr charger as there is a weird special connection where this charger goes.

For every amp drained, it takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours to recharge that AMP. If a 12 amp battery is dead, it takes 12 hours to recharge.

You can always have the battery removed from the car and then charged on a "regular" charger, safely (presuming that the battery itself will still hold a charge).

For a car as nice as a new F430, though...man...I'd just pop a new battery in there and be done with it.

True...if you have a real battery charger instead of a trickle charger. Trickle chargers tend to not be very efficient (if they work at all) if the battery is lower than 80%.

I didn't read through all this but your battery could be cooked. Just tow it and have them put in another if need be.

ok 9 hrs now and nothing. Is anyone sure there is not something i am doing wrong? I just hate to let it go overnight and not be correct. SHould I have clicked some switch? Turn off main power? turn the key, something, anything?

I just plugged it into the car, then plugged it into the wall. That's it. Was this right?

    Thx again.

Plugged it in where, to the cigarette lighter or some such? A trickle charger (that's all that can plug in to a cig lighter) won't revive a fully dead battery.

Do you own a cameraphone? Snap a quick pic of your charger, and then one of where you plugged it into your F430.

Type in a brief post here on Fchat, then hit the "manage attachments" button...that will let you pull your pics off of your own computer hard drive (click on "browse" then find your pics, then click the "Upload" button). Then post your message here so that your problem can be visualized.

Don't worry about it, it does take 24hr plus to charge. My 360 flattened when I left the dome light on (doh) in the garage. From dead as a dodo (no clicks/lights/nothing) it took 2 days to be fully charged. After the first day I had enough charge to realize that I'd left the light on. A long time to charge might mean something is on (like the trunk light, so leave it more or less down). It will charge eventually.

PS Had the factory option on my 360 and didn't bother on my CS - 150$ vs 800$+ and its much more convenient to use - no screwing of bolts and removing a panel, I just open the trunk and plug it in, much better.

ya, ty guys. I just plugged it into the special connection under the hood where the brake/clutch fluid reservoirs are. and then to the wall. The only thing that would be on would be that bonnet light. However, I noticed when battery was fine, even that light would go out after a time to conserve battery so I doubt this will be an issue..... I will see what happens in morning I guess.

btw, I also clicked that switch on console to turn off the pk lights that i know i left on.

Dan, did you use the Factory charger to do yours?

Why don't you just go out and buy a battery? Or is this thing super complicated to replace?
