I've never felt 100% that I could find a comfortable seating position in my 328 and today I finally measured it. From the bottom of my steering wheel to the brake pedal is 32" (81cm). I measured my Diablo, and it's 23" (58cm). That's quite a massive difference, and is why I have to bring the seat right forward, and then lean back (which I'm not a huge fan of). I like to be able to press the clutch and brake to full movement and still have a bend in my knee.

Does that distance seem wrong? Have my pedals been moved (I doubt it as 2 Ferrari experts have driven it and not noticed anything) or is that how they are? I guess there's not much I can do? Even spacers behind some aluminum (aluminium ;) ) pedals will only make an inch or so difference - this is a 9" difference in the 2 cars.

Never really heard that as a complaint. Most, like me adjust seat to where the pedals feel like a good place then really want the steering wheel closer and add a steering wheel spacer. That is opposite your situation. And by the way I sit in a very upright position.

Italian driving position. In those days human factors were what the engineers liked.

Personally I like the driving position but I'm not very tall. I do hit my fingers on the top of the dash sometimes because of the steering wheel being so angled. Its -- weird, but kinda quaint. An acquired taste along with having the pedals so far offset and the box so small.

The steering wheel mount under the dash is slotted so tilt is easily adjusted. Loosen the 2 bolts a bit and move it where you like it.

Google Maps captured this image of me while I was still in Austin - I seem to be so close to the windscreen and so far from the back of the door. Same side shot of me in the diablo and my head would appear to be about a foot further back. I have a 5cm spacer on the wheel, but that does make reaching the indicators a slight stretch too. I'm just surprised at the difference in the 2 Italian makes.

But they're both Italian cars, and so vastly different. I'd said to a few people that I just seem to fit the Lamborghinis (my Countach's feel the same as the Diablo) but always felt awkward in the 328.
Even putting in allow pedal covers with a 1" spacer isn't going to make much difference.

They are but that's their charm. Today everything is cookie cutter 99% human factors. In those days whoever was the engineer did what he thought was right.

Its -- quirky. And I dare anyone over 6'2" 250lbs to try to fit in a 246 Dino GT. I fit perfectly. Most won't.

You're kidding! You didn't know that? There's also a pinch nut on the column that may need loosening. I dropped mine down and then added a spacer which helped clear my legs. Give it a go - you'll like the change in the feel of steering.

Well I've only driven it about a hundred miles before putting it in the shop. Yes I intend to!

When they came up with the design of the 308 they said - we can make it look like that but you're gonna have to sit like this...
