New to this forum, hoping somebody could help me understand what is real. I just received a 458, love it but thinking of an exhaust to make it louder. I have seen various reviews of exhaust but can’t see a very clear answer if these exhausts will pass CA emissions. Callisto, S-line, Fabspeed. I doubt I can delete the CATS and pass but unclear if upgrading to something like Fabspeeds headers, S-line exhaust OEM cars will pass. Has anybody got a set up that works, or is it a case of out it back every two years or find a person who will bend the rules , which is not easy nor do I want to do that.

My local dealer is saying use the OEM sports exhaust upgrade from Ferrari but for the high price I am not sure if it will sound anywhere near as good as other after market options.

    Appreciate any insights.

For an exhaust to have been California legal previously it had to have a CARB EO number. If it is not CARB certified you can't run it. This applies to everything before the catalysts.

Now you have a new problem in California. I believe you guys now have a noise requirement. Which pretty much eliminates all exhausts from passing the sound qualifications in California.

If you live in a duck bag county your going to get busted. If you live in a certain political leaning area that doesn't care... They may not enforce it ... But ... You will always have your neck hanging out on the chopping block.

The whole aftermarket exhaust thing is pretty much dying in California to my understanding.

People are getting pulled over with factory exhausts and ticketed.

I am looking for a exhaust system for my 458. I am in CA. I am looking at IPE
0F458-NVN00-5 SS . I am getting confusing explanations as to if it will pass CA smog.

I believe most exhaust systems cat back will pass. I think that is the truth not 100% but I think.

Cat-back exhaust changes are fine here in CA. It doesn't affect a smog test. Post your question in the 458 section to get informed suggestions about aftermarket parts.

A 458 sounds awesome stock so why mess with it? Also, it already attracts lots of attention so need to draw more attention to yourself.

I wish we had a law like that. Some people dye their hair pink to get more attention and some put an annoying loud exhaust on their vehicle :(
