I have an idea to create a circuit/sprint race in Keizer. I have talked with many chamber members and a few police officers, they seem willing to put forth the effort to create a circuit through the city. I'm organizing this race for next year for May 17th or 18th of 2009. I need to get a list of people and cars that would be willing to come to Keizer, OR. So, are there any of you that would be willing to travel to Keizer, OR and do a race through the city?

Also, I need some ideas on what kinda of race you would want.

You might be more successful if you posted in the Oregon subsection.

One idea would be to work with the Oregon Rally Group. Google them.

Organizing a race thru a town without having event liability insurance and careful thought to safety requirements for cars and competitors (helmet, HANS, procedures for crashed cars, communications network)would put you individually in huge liabilty risk. Most roadrace cars are not built safely to race thru a town with permanent hard objects like buildings, cement/stone walls, trees,... to run into. Usually they are on a track w/ soft tire walls and gravel runoffs. The nature of the sport requires rallycar cages to be built to handle greater impacts. Bringing on a established sanctioning body and organization like Oregon Rally Group is IMHO a better idea than just a "Hey, I have road use permits, lets have a race." Maybe the turn-out of Subarus and Mitsus isn't the exotic entry list you hope for but better than people wreaking the exotic and getting hurt and suing you.

Also, see the Targa Newfoundland website. Their touring class rules may work for you.
