I was grounded for a few hours in Asheville yesterday waiting to have a starter replaced. So in the interim I sat on a bench on the ramp, enjoying the sun and watched mostly King Airs coming and going.

One MU2 came screeching in. It has to be one of the most successful planes in the world for taking jet fuel and turning it into noise.

Shortly after the MU2 something making a powerful growling sound was coming up the taxi way. I kept looking behind this one small plane for something else. Then I recognized the 2 seater with the F-16 style canopy. A Turbine Legend. I had only seen pictures before and believe me they do not do this plane justice. I pasted the link if you guys have never seen one before. The sleek thin profile of the body is incredible. 300 knots.

Reminds me a bit of a homebuilt tandem-seat twin I saw in Florida back in the '70s called the BJ-520; a real hot ship, though not turbine-powered.

Good Lord, 1,250 useful load, 300 knot VA, better than 5,000 FPM climb loaded?? The whole homebuilt thing scares me, but man, what a plane.
