RM had great success last year, resuscitating an event that had been written off under the previous auction company's direction (no names out of respect for the terminally unable).
The 2008 event promises to be even better, with a larger lineup.

I am planning on consigning several cars that I believe will do better in a Euro currency environment than in the US and I hope to buy something different with the proceeds.
    Anyone planning on attending?

I would go but decided to try the Ferrari Experience at same time in Canada.
Considering recent blood bath in Euro Markets I would be wary to expect high € prices for collectibles at the moment.
May be a good time to buy new additions, not to sell....

I was flying back to Phoenix today and became concerned that my post might be misinterpreted. Regardless of our current bear stock market, which has a limited effect on those bidding at Legenda e Passione, the Dollar/Euro imbalance is a powerful force pulling the finest vintage cars back home....

I think that the only relevant factor in deciding to take the cars to Maranello is the continuing strength of the Euro against the US dollar. I believe that the dollar will recover gradually towards the latter half of the year and into 2009, and I'm betting on that in my business, but the Euro will be a better currency for auction buyers in May.
The buyers in this league are relatively unaffected by general economic conditions and the higher the value of the car, the less of an issue it is. Those buyers are very liquid and if they want the car they buy it. We saw it at RM and Gooding in AZ last week, where their top entries continued the upward value trend and significant rare cars fetched high and even record prices like the ALFA 6C at Gooding, while the run-of-the-mill domestics at BJ and Russo plunged in value.
I'm comfortable with this choice and while I am saddened that these cars will in all likelihood be lost to the US, I will do better than I would at a US based sale like Monterey's auctions in August, and I will get the opportunity to purchase something significant that will possibly be a new addition to the US

Success does not deny the market. Good luck with the sale!

The other element involved of course is the chance to get a real inside look at Ferrari, much more so than the customer tour, which is wonderful but a little superficial and the promise that I can drive my cars at Fiorano. That alone is enough to make the choice to go.

I went last year and am planning on going again this year - great fun. Last year the Ferrari Racing days at Monza was the same weekend, F1 cars, FXXs etc. I went to that on the Saturday and the Auction on Sunday. Not sure if the same is true this year or not.

The 2007 event sold 34 out of 35 cars, only an F40 prototype wasn't sold.
There was the rumor that ecurie Francorchamps would sell their entire collection this year including the entire memorabilia collection.
If so, I will be there!

There is no entrylist available yet, but i'm curious...

FIA GT race at Monza this year on the weekend. Don't know if they have any time on the schedule for Ferrari track time. That said, the GT race should be a cracker.

I would like to know exactly the same thing. Unfortunately, the "customer service" offered through the owner's website is not able to provide more than a form response and they never seem to offer their packages until the last minute. Very frustrating!!!

Good luck on the sales and the purchase! Your currency view makes sense. Comes down to interest rate trajectories. US was first to cut and then cut deeply. Euroland will follow after initial resistance. Australia might be the last
