Hi Ferrari fans, Please excuse me posting in your hallowed grounds, but I figured since ill never get to own a Ferrari (well not the one i would like ) I'd build my own. As a full time Professional LEGO builder I get a chance once a year to build something of my own choosing, and this year was what at least I think in my humble opinion is the greatest car ever made. (please don't flame me for my uneducated love of the car!) Needless to say, I hope you like it as much as I loved making it. approx 1/4th to 1/5th scale, 50,000 LEGO bricks and 4 weeks (give or take) to build. Cheers Ryan More detailed pics at my flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ryanmcnaught/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
wow, great! That must have been a fun project. Will this be at Lego Land any time soon? You truly are the SPECIAL...the greatest, most interesting person in the world (or something like that)... truly a master builder.
Thank you for your kind words, I am based in Australia, so no LEGOland for this model, but it will end up being displayed in a toy store somewhere (I always lose track of my models as they get shipped around all over the place!) So being a Ferrari noob, "IF" I were to do another Ferrari what would be your ultimate choice of Ferrari to be made in LEGO?
Great work Ryan!! Now if LEGO would only offer something like that!! It would truly be the ultimate LEGO set.
An excellent job; it really does look like a California! You ought to pose a child standing next to the car to give us an idea of the scale.
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!! (The Lego Movie reference, for those who don't know) The details are amazing! Will you keep it, or sell it? I think you could make decent money out of it if you don't intend to keep it (I'm not a buyer, just putting it out here anyway).
I honestly don't think this is far from the truth. People buy Ferrari related art and handmade models for thousands. How would the copyright work on something like this, though? It's not like Ferrari "hunts down" people that sell Ferrari paintings or sculptures?
If it doesn't de-value the brand-and especially if it helps the brand the guys behind the gate are gladly going to look the other way. Great problem to have if it's your company!
So, if LEGO were to make kit like this how much would it cost? I have always wondered about this on all of the large LEGO displays.
I would love to see a life sized Ferrari made out of Legos! That would be quite the project though...
