I always liked Lenny, at least as a ball player. And the "Real Sports" feature on him made him look like a financial genius, but he's in deep sh$t and appears to be a real *********... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4084962
sounds like he is a real 'playa', that's for sure. You don't get THAT MANY negative takes on you without a fair chunk of them being true.
nails on roids? you've got to be kidding me! (that's sarcastic, btw. ) the guys burned a lot of bridges in his day, and it looks like it's coming back to haunt him now.
I read fine. There is a strong message between the lines.....Did you miss the part when he finally came out from behind his desk, opened the door and got it.... I always liked Lenny's nickname (Nails) though. I wonder if he's chewing on them now?
I was a Phillies fanatic back in the Dykstra, Kruk, and Daulton days. I don't ever recall his nick name being Nails. It was always "The Dude".
Remember when Lenny wrote a book? They ask one of his teammates what he thought: I can't remember who but: "Lenny wrote a book? I didn't know Lenny could read."
Not nearly as damning as the 74 tell-all "Beisball been berry berry good" by Chico Esquela! I was a Yankees fan from '83 on, but my grandfather (who raised me) was a big Mets fan. He died the summer of '86 and his favorite player was Lenny. The first time I started watching the Mets was on WWOR for the retirement of Rusty Staub, the opening day game and there was Lenny in a bright red wig. He seemed young and enthusiastic. A few years later he started doing the whole chaw thing, and was the posterboy for filthy redneck behaviour. Then there was not a bar in town he was not tossed from, as the story goes.
Perhaps that 12-inch-**** will come in handy in the klink! Never liked the guy's attitude or arrogance. Always best to be humble. If you fall, people might help. When you're up, people aren't jealous. In this instance, there are many rooting for his demise. CW
I remember watching him on one of those Fox Saturday morning business shows and thought it was bizarre. I never thought he fit in on the show.
Probably Lenny. He hurt a lot of people financially it seems. Pete didn't pay his taxes and gambled his way out of baseball, so he just hurt himself for the most part.
