I need a new laptop, business dedicated. Apart from differences in spec's, do you prefer one of these two and why?

The HP offers a slightly better screen resolution (1600x900 "HD+" vs. 1366x768), but is a little heavier with a little less battery time but those factors don't really matter.

I've always heard Thinkpad is the business laptop so I'm not sure. HP does seem serious about making a good product though...

I've had many laptops through the years, and found the Thinkpads to be the best. Currently using an X1 Carbon.

I bought T430s with integrated LTE cards for my managers to use - price was around $1,350 each. The love them, but they are too heavy for my taste.

I had a bunch of Acers and other stuff over the years but they all seemed to die. I bought a T400s a few years ago and it never missed a beat. I upgraded last summer to the T430s so I could get the 16BG of RAM while the t400s was limited to 8. We now have five lenovo (mix of t400s, 420s and 430s) laptops at the shop. I would go with a i7 equiped 430s over the T530. Its lighter and you probably won't miss the extra screen size. I just upgraded to a 500GB Samsung SSD as well. It flies! The Lenovo desktop dock works well with both 27" and 30" screens. Just make sure you get it with the fastedt CPU you can but the lowest amount of RAM. That way you can put two 8GB sticks in it for a reasonable cost.

I'd love to get that X1 Carbon but I don't believe it has the docking port. And the RAM is limited. Bummer! I should have a 'carbon' laptop!

HP has fantastic customer support; as long as you are in warranty. The extended warranty is worth it.

Make sure its the T430s. The T430 is thicker and heavier. If you need discreet graphics, then its worth the weight premium. But otherwise, get the T430s.

I just ordered the EliteBook 8470, the 14" instead of 15", as it has a better screen and was cheaper than the comparable ThinkPad :)

    Core i5-3210M, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, W7P+W8P

Will upgrade to SSD and 4GB extra RAM if I feel the need for it!

Will have it on Thursday I guess, can't wait to try it out :)
