Question. If you are a pro photographer, do you get the lenses cheaper? Here in DK I can get around the 25% VAT if I get registered as a photographer and can prove I am making money on it. Does it work like that in other countries as well?
I *think* you can write off gear on your taxes here if you are a pro, though that means you'd actually have to pay taxes on your earnings.
my 60mm macro in action. Felt like playing a bit with it for my pic of the day. *LOL* Shot at ISO 800. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I always thought about doing that, though I think the IRS would frown on my "business" spending more on equipment than revenue being brought in.
I made the stupid move of doing it in almost darkness, and holding the match sideways. It should have burned from upside down instead I think
5D2 is purchased! $1494 including PayPal fees and shipping. Under 8k shots and with only a single cosmetic scrape on top of the viewfinder. I'm pleased to say the least. Unfortunately I won't have any money to buy any lenses for about a week.
Nice. Great price. What's the shutter rated to? Either way you should be old for a long time. http://olegkikin.com/shutterlife/canon_eos5dmkii.htm Mine was new but is already past 2000 clicks.
Yeah, I was happy I found one with fairly low shutter, I just didn't want to go over 20k. I could get a 67k for $1400 or 8k for $1500, no brainer there.
Ugh, deal fell through, $1625 now, but it's pristine. Now...17-40 or 24-105??? I'll get both eventually, but I'm thinking 17-40 first.
You guys seem not to know about the CLP(canon loyalty program) I'd look it up.... it'll save you money
Thats the deal where you can trade up for higher model refurbs right? I still have my 40d and don't plan to get rid of it. Maybe when the mark III is on there I'll upgrade my mark II.
More expensive though, but I should be able to swing it. I need to find an actual used one, all the ones I've found are coming out of 5D3 kits.
Yes you could have bought your mk II on the CLP I believe from reading what I did recently, as I mentioned I'd look it up if I was a canon shooter as it seems worthwhile. Not sure if trade-in is required.
Wait, weren't you the one complaining about lens distortion on your 5D I with a 17-40? It does exist, but is mainly noticeable when your subjects are in the foreground on the edges... I'd go 24-104 first. I do use my 17-40 a fair amount though
Sort of, mainly because it's not very good for automotive work, which is primarily what I do, but when a landscape comes up it's fantastic, I've had two of them already. It's just one of those lenses you have to be really really careful with when doing compositions and I found myself zooming in more than I used the wide end, especially when traveling when you don't always have a ton of time to compose a shot. But that's what the 24-105 will be used for. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
