Is the Clinete tool locked down by VIN or will it work if one buys another car of the same model?

nick should be in politics...he talks a lot about the cliente tool but never answers any specific questions about it, like costs and availability.

Once I have Cliente inventory in my possession and the landed cost in the USA is confirmed after my expenses and they are ready to sell, I will post an selling price. I am 90% positive the 5,000 USD price point will be accurate.

The price will also be posted on diagnostic tool for Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche and other high line automobiles Once the tool is in my possession and I have spent some time with the tool I can compare the differences between the Leonardo and what the Cliente version has.

I did post that we are hoping for a $5,000 USD price point earlier in this thread. I have been told that I will have inventory by the 15th of Feb.

The tool will not be vin# based it will be car model based when you register the tool and your software license is sent to you via e mail after you purchase the tool.

If you own 2 Ferrari's say a 360 and a 430. you will be able to purchase additional software in Cliente version for your second vehicle.

Again, once I have one in my hand and not in Beta format like we had at Automechanika show or what we showed at SEMA, then I will be able to talk about it in further detail with accuracy.

It would probably be best for me to start a Cliente thread once I have inventory.

Thanks Taz. Perhaps a better question or two: Is anyone here using an ST5 and how does it compare to an SD2?

David- From what I have read, it does not perform all the functions of an SD2, and some pros like it and some considered it a waste of money, big money.

That was my understanding, as well...but was hoping for any new light to be shed on this subject. I've got an SD2 in my sights but just wanted to investigate all other possibilities, first. Thanks.

David- Two problems with the SD2 are the price and learning how to use it. If you can cover those, nothing better for a 360 or 575.

$20-25K if you can find one. Easier to find an SD3, but for the earlier cars, most pros prefer the SD2.

the sd2 is excellent, not that difficult to use once you get the hang of it.

The SD2 works like a dos system but is near indestructible
I have heard of them in the 13,000 range but when you add cables, laptop discs keys etc I feel closer to the 20 25 number. Not all sd2 are up to date.. Thinking of starting a kickstart funding for the rental on scan tools. Want to raise capital to exspand to last tool and create protection coverage for the daily weekly rental. Please feel free to email me your 2c . [email protected]

Along the same lines, I look at tate ~$25K cost for SD2 against the $5K cost for Cliente and wonder why five guys wouldn't buy an SD2, Leonardo (or whatever) and share it instead.... Or to put it another way, how does the Cliente seller argue that it's worth 1/5th as much as the alternatives? Or in the case of an ST5.....

I just purchased one today. A NOS find, with all of the goodies for a sweet price. We'll now be able to offer SD2 service to all of our New England friends.

Thank you, Taz. As you very well know, these are just so hard to find...I'm very excited to have such a gem on hand as my comfort level with these "more modern" cars will greatly increase.

It does Maserati extremely well. You just have to know how to use it. Its a bit of a learning curve, but as you use it more and more, it becomes second nature. It has become an invaluable tool in our shop.
