Hi guys, Sorry if this question has been asked before , did Leonardo Fioravanti design the Mondial Coupe & Cabriolet ? Thanks in advance, Luigi
He seems to be credited with the managing the design, but not being the actual designer. I think a young fellow Pierangelo Andreani was the actual designer? Fioravanti did personally design this in 1974 which has some of the design cues of the Mondial I think... Thank you very much Andy for the reply , I was surfing the web and almost of them that its a Pininfarina designed , I concluded that it might be designed by Fioravanti ( designer of the Dino , Boxer , Daytona & 308 ) because of it was in the same era , but its not . Luigi
The Italian version of wiki credits the Mondial design to Fioravanti. https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonardo_Fioravanti_(designer) IMO, the mid engine Ferrari cars from Pininfarina when Fioravanti was there, all have a similar look.

I suspect the Mondial 8 was designed by committee, under the watch of Fioravanti and some inside Ferrari staff. No one seems to take personal credit for the design even though most Ferrari's have been attributed to specific Pininfarina designers after the firm decided to be more liberal with allowing such attribution. Pierangelo Andreani includes being involved with the design of the Mondial 8 on his resume, the only such direct reference I could find. http://www.beneteau.com/en/designer-architecte/andreani-design I still see a lot of Bertone style in the Mondial, softened by more typical Pinnifarina curves. Bertone was a more influential a design house in this period I think. Pininfarina may well have been passing its prime around this time. Might also be that the wedge shape leant itself to the cumbersome bumper requirements that were getting in the way of the more classically beautiful designs.
Hi there, an old topic, but Andreani answered in an interview for to the French forum Maseratitude he draw the Mondial. He said Fioravanti not being inspired, gave up the project after a few sketches, letting Andreani do the job. Fioravanti is quite elusive about the Mondial in his autobiography, Il Cavalino nel cuoro, just telling how he didn't belived in a 2+2 mid engined car until he drove the 308 GT4. Knowing the fact Andreani left PF in 1976, it means the design was put aside for quite a long time (Andreani did the Mondial before the Biturbo).
I was in contact with Mr. Fioravanti less than two weeks ago and he confirmed that Andreani designed the Mondial 8, under his watch. Natan
Lorenzo Ramaciotti was on the design team as well and made sketches, but those were not selected. Also confirmed by himself, a few months ago. Natan
I will ask him, but I expect it was business as usual at Pininfarina in those days. I am more interested in the brief from Ferrari. Natan
I'd be interested in the follow up: So Pierangelo Andreani designed the 8 who then re-designed the facelift of the 3,2 and later the T? or are those things done in-house at Ferrari ?

Oh WOW! I love those designs! WOW!!! That is a fantastic look for the Mondial. Wish they would have made it. It keeps the classic Mondial look but really updated.
Hi Natan! I´m from Buenos Aires-Argentina, I own a Mondial QV Cabriolet: do you know if is it possibile to have the contact of Mr Andreani? I want a signature of Mr.Andreani I´d like to put it in the story book of my car and of course in the car. King regards!!!
Wow! I somehow missed this thread a few years ago. Interestingly the sketches of the updated Mondial look VERY much like a Gen2 Mr2! 2cam
