Whats best? We are a small independent specialist in the UK. Our Sd2 has failed, meaning we can no longer resolve 550 airbag lights, 355 suspension lights etc etc. We've been looking at the 3 main offerings on the market - we need a good, reliable machine that can cope with the older models. SDX looks best for me, covering Sd1,2 and 3 levels of software.

    Any information would be great.

AE won't help with the 355 suspension, airbag or F1.

Tim - not all F1's. Taz has AE for his 575 and it works well for the F1. I've heard some very good things about the SDX. If you only need a tool for Ferrari - that's probably the best route.

Perhaps an obvious issue and one you have already checked - but did you check the ISO cable? What is the failure? Failure to connect? Send me an email (not PM) and I might be able to connect you with someone who can repair the SD2.

Save, wiring has become detached from the rear of the unit. Sadly it belongs to another technician of ours, who is moving on to pastures new, so we need to arrange a new set up.

This pretty much comes down to what you can afford. AE is about $3500 and covers late Ferraris, Maseratis and most European, American and Japanese cars. It has worked great on my 575M, F430s, and later Ferraris (7.1.1 and 7.3.2), but not so great on Motronic 5.2 and 7.3 Ferraris. Leonardo and SDX are way, way more expensive, but have better coverage on Ferraris. Since my techs were beta testers on the 575M, AE works very well on them, especially on F1 and clutches, my primary concern when I bought it for them. They have used it on a multitude of cars since, including BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche models.

You're not paying attention. I specifically mentioned 355. AE works fine for the newer cars.

Have you tried it on a 355 F1 Tim? The 355 TCU can be accessed via the OBDII socket so I'm interested to know if they have software support.

Try giving Aldous Voice down south a call - he has a good overview (including local support)

If you are Ferrari specialist, SDX is the only game

Ferrari dealers are calling me for Leonardo's to replace their failing sd2/ sd3/ units. They are not purchasing SDX units!
