I’m going to assume most people who want these seats want them in matching leather. How interested are you in paying more than $10k for seats that doesn’t match your interior’s leather at a high percentage?

Unless people don’t mind something like full alcantara or F40 red material (ala Modificata), then that’s a different story.

I’m not looking for whoever is the closest to me - a lesson learned from Jeff Segal’s experience. I’m looking for the best in the world. You should see the results of those who attempted to re-trim these. These are ultra rare $20k seats. You only get one chance. Only the best trimmer in the world should touch these no matter the cost.

I’m sorry to say, but we simply don’t share the same standards. You’re more than welcome to try though :).

I’m glad you posted Bradan’s link. Viewers should go through that thread with a fine comb and look how much work is involved. As much work they put in, the end result is probably 10% of my standards. You couldn’t pay me to put those seats in my car. Let’s be real here.

I’ve always praised Bradan’ work. They are sort of a jack of all trades and do many things great. I’m not looking for a jack of all trades. I’m looking for the master of one trade. I believe I have found him. I just haven’t found the leather :).

There are 3 sizes. Standard size from (95-97) and Narrow or Large from 98-99. Which one will it be?

Find me exact matching Connolly leather and I’ll make sure Justin can make it happen.

Guess you don't know who he is then. Or what kind of work he does

I’ve gone through Sid Chavers work on his Instagram page in it’s entirety (well before you mentioned his name). His work is excellent, but his focus is much older cars with simpler interiors. I haven’t seen any of his examples close to the complexity of a 355 carbon seat to have enough confidence. If you’ve seen a sample, feel free to post it and let’s compare it to Justin’s work. Can you confidently say his work is better than Justin’s?

There is Connolly Vaumol (pre 80’s I think) and Connolly Autolux. You have to understand Connolly went under long ago and re-surfaced with a new generation. People seem to be happy with the accuracy of Connolly Vaumol. Autolux is what in our cars. It is thinner, lighter, and different feeling. I have been told from those who have received samples directly from Connolly, their new generation of Autolux does not match in grain or texture. It is too smooth… as I mentioned previously.

I’ve also been told by a reputable trimmer in the UK, Connolly would be willing to attempt to produce something close to original as possible if 20 hides of 1 color were ordered. Why they just didn’t do it from the get-go beats me. A pair of seats uses roughly 1 hide. Black and tan are the most common colors. That’s 40 hides. If you don’t have black or tan…. GOOD LUCK.

I have not seen any work yes close to the 360 ferrari seats but when I re do my sport seats he is definitely a option not that he close to me but the attention to detail. What he brings to the early hot rods that some are over 300k built buy roy brizo. Yes Justin has a amazing portfolio you can not deny that but I can't say he is the best nor Sid. Each has there own style the way they do there stuff. But either way just putting options out there for any help. And try to learn more.

Have you been paying attention? I posted this link. I have yet to get an Autolux sample from him.

Have you ever seen anyone re-do their 550 or 355 interior with replacement leather? Serious question. You should look into it. I have .. for years :).

I look at complexity of the interior to get an idea of the skill level. The price of the car is not too relevant to me. The car itself is also a contributing factor to it’s value. The classic Porsches Justin has done interiors for, I wouldn’t be surprised if they fetched over $300k as well.

I hope it works out for you and Sid, but imo Justin has done more work closer to the complexity of a 355 sport seat. He’s got that German precision in him :).

Where are you located? If East Coast, I’d highly consider Kenneth Michaels. Look at Modificata’s page. He recently did work on Jeff’s 355 challenge. Dash and seats. Take a look.

Got it, so your looking for leather that does not exist, or are you assuming it is out there somewhere?

If I receive a sample from Henk and I feel it is not to my standards, I will tell him. I will give him an opportunity to create it again. If he fails the second time, I would then feel the only option is to take a chance (not guaranteed) with Connolly. At that stage, we’ll have to organize a group buy or something with those who might be interested in Connolly Autolux hides (348, 355, 550, etc) because I ain’t buying 20 hides.

Also, on a more personal note, I’m actually feeling conflicted with this project because I’m partially vegan lol. I don’t eat beef (or pork) because I don’t feel right about the way we mess with these animals for consumption. I’m just hoping Henk has some old stock left or something.

Justin mentioned to me he only has time to do 2-3 pairs of these seats a year because he’s booked as is. I actually would prefer it that way. If the project happens, these seats would only be reserved for those who acknowledge and appreciate excellent craftsmanship and are happily willing to pay the price for it.
