When your landing speed is 40 knots and the ship is doing 20-25 knots into the wind, it is not as bad as it seems.

When I was a kid living in Washington D.C. I saw the Akron and Macon cruising around the city and in 1936 I saw the Hindenburg fly over our house in Bethesda, Md. Visits to Bolling Field and Annacostia NAS with my brother in the early 30's we saw P-26's, F4B-4's, P-12's, F4F's, B-10's, and many others. This is only an item of interest to me now but it was a wonderful experience to see the start of two air forces then. Very colorful.

There are some flyable F3Fs currently in existence (reproductions, admittedly) but I've never seen one fly. I hope that happens someday.
