The Pocher 1:8 F40 was discontinued years ago, so I had to buy a mint unstarted kit off of eBay for $800 which believe it or not is the going price for them. I opened it up to find that the paintjob was terrible, orange peel everywhere, and the engine ventilation slots were unopened. So I stripped the paint, drilled the slots open, filed them, now I'm working on sanding and painting.

Then I bought this transkit (a transformation kit to add tremendous detail to the stock 1:8 model) for $1400
    http://scaleautoworks.com/f40transkitphotos.htm and http://autographmodel.com/Englisch/E-M1-8/E_OZTranskit/E_OZTranskit.htm
If you read the descriptions you will find that it's basically 10 pounds of metal between photoetched sheets in aluminum and brass and cast white metal parts, etc.

After that I bought 2 sets of aluminum rims for about $700

I then decided to acquire some garage accessories when the model is finished, like a 1:8 scale snap-on tool chest, 1:8 scale brown leather italian driving gloves, etc.

So all in all I guess I spent close to $4,000

I'm waiting for William, Rick, and Roland to show up :)

Well, this IS the 'General' Ferrari showroom. No reason why you cant post it hear. Had you posted in the collectibles section I wouldn't have seen it!

AWESOME F40. The detail is amazing. I was looking at getting a Pocher F40.....but, now after hearing what it would cost for startup I am reconsidering! Looks great though, cant wait to see it when its all finished. So post pics when its done, and put them in the 'showroom', or I wont get to see it. :)

I have the same Pocher as what you have but not yet started the project.
Will you plan on using Glasurit paint which is same as the real car? That's what I used with mine... But in 1:43 Feeling43

    thanks omerta :)

yes i was planning on doing that, patpong, if i can find it, otherwise i'll be looking for ppg rosso corsa. the painting of the body might have been so difficult so far because i've been using tamiya paints which are not automotive like ppg/glasurit and are probably generally designed for their plastic kits only, who knows

You should use auto paint for body and Tamiya for parts.
