Hard to believe its been 22 years. From wikipedia... The wreckage of the Boeing jumbo jet is stored approximately a mile from Tattershall, in rural Lincolnshire, at Roger Windley's scrapyard and karting facility, pending the conclusion of the American victims civil case. The remains include the nose section of the Boeing 747 that became the iconic image of the disaster. The cockpit is largely intact but was cut into several pieces to assist in removal from Tundergarth Hill.
I found this online doing some searching. I don't think it's a repost but... you never know! Looks like somewhere in France looking at the yellow headlights. Why is the door missing???? Sad... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh my.... regardless of any circumstances that might sound "reasonable".... That is SAD... Were that owner to know what VALUE in REAL MONEY is sitting there rotting... OMG.... LIFE CHANGING value... Jedi
I am curious about the yellow headlights, I know race cars in jgtc, lemans and so on use them but why does this car have them
How about this dead Mondial I found sitting in a car park in an apartment block in Dubai. I assume the owner has left the country (very common here). Such a shame, as there are no laws here for abandoned cars. They simply remain the property of the owner, even if they never move it. Sometimes the police gather them up and sell them at auction, but not very often. IMO it is beyond saving, but the engine is still there and probably worth something to someone. If anyone knows how to make the pics sit the right way up, please let me know and I'll repost. Pics of this car have been posted some months ago, but the car was in a better shape, especially the windscreen was not destroyed... Now, interior degradation will be very quick. Poor car.. Was the driver's door open ? On the pic, it seems to be not well closed ?
Yes, it is completely unlocked. I think kids broke the windscreen as there is a metal bar inside laying on the driver's seat. With all the dust in Dubai the interior is already coated. The car is complete apart from the windscreen, but that much rust is quite unusual here.
Me too. However, people are quite afraid of taking anything out here, as the punishments are fairly harsh. Stealing bits off this car would probably get you six months in prison here, followed by deportation. they don't tend to mess around. And no they don't chop your hands off (that's only in Saudi). Oddly, people seem happy to smash the windscreen but not steal the badges!
Odd, indeed. Smashing a windshield should be punished just as severely as taking an emblem. Both are morally reprehensible; destroying a windshield is worse in terms of cost and difficulty of replacing it. Destruction to someone else's car is among the most cowardly, low-down, reprehensible things I know.
True. I assume it was kids, as vandalism is very rare here. Seems crazy that no one can tow it or claim it, as there are thousands of dollars of parts on the car, even in this state.
A Cord missing its engine, as far as I could tell. The owner was a collector who kept everything in a ravine and, it would seem, knew how to use a loo brush and a pot of black paint.
