wow. Never seen that! Looks like an E36 M3 mirror that has been stuck on a jet... and the speed stretched it! I guess it needed to be pre stretched so owners wouldn't complain about bad mirrors after highweay runs...
For some reasons, I think when you look at the car, the mirror sticking out take away the attention from its shape. You notice the mirror before you enjoy the look of the shape of the car...
Naw. You notice the shape of the TR before you ever notice the mirror. Sortta like 'wow, shes a knockout. Cute, nice hair, good bod, pretty eyes, but her feet are just too big'. Cammon Pat, your TR is a knockout. Drive.
Some photos that I took during one of my adventures. BTW, those are some of Yoshi's shields. The mirror is level with the mirror on the inside and it looks over the huge rear fender, so it's a very practical design.
hahaha.... that's what my brother told me... Just drive and enjoy the car, Man!. I told him most of the TR's I saw in here in Thailand have two mirrors. My brother, who's in Motorcycles, said That's because I was in the Ferrari club, he haven't seen a TR anywhere in Bangkok for ages...
Only 84 and 85. They changed to two mirror during 85. So, some 85 cars have two mirrors, some has one.
The Testarossa was first introduced with a single high mounted mirror and was in production for first two years after launching. I think there are only about 600 out of total of 7,000 Testarossa were made with single mirror. These days most of thse 600 were converted to fit with two mirrors normal mouting position. All of a sudden a single mirror become a rare thing. In Thailand, there are 13 Testarossa. All of those now have two mirrors, either originally or converted one....
Not many from those yrs here. They did not start to reach our shores until 85 in the US. Most that I have seen have been lowered. The majority of TRs in our market seem to be the 88.5 and up, 2 mirrors and the 5 bolt pattern on the wheels. 85-88 model is rare here. BTW: I love what you did with your car. Congrats !!
DOT requirements at that time said that an outside mirror could not have any obstruction from the car's body panels (although an exception was finaly granted in 1987). Ferrari experimented with various positions in search of a 100% panel free view to the rear. A funny thing happened; when the outside mirror was mounted on the A pillar of the driver's side the view was completely unobstructed. As for a mirror in the same position on the passenger side the driver couldn't see the mirror from the driver's seat. All those 85-86 TRs you see with an added passenger side A pillar mirror are bogus. I've got it on advice from an actual owner that he can't even see the passenger side mirror and only added it to give the car a more modern appearance.
