It's all about the kids, Terry. My girl wants me to get a convertible. I want one, too. And in the 612, my boy is sitting in back as he's still 6. But in the Cali, I kid you not, you glance right and his face is right there. I can talk to him, not at him, in a California. I also want a car I can have in traffic without worry, and one my wife will finally like to be in and drive. Anything at all with a clutch bothers my wife no matter how well I shift. I definitely believe a Cali T is in my future someday long from now. But the Cali is a very different application than the 612, or 599 now. I've driven the Cali and Cali 30 and love them both. I'd very much like to have one as a second Ferrari. Will go for a 2011 most likely. There's a perfect one out there for me right now but I need to sort some business things and get the 612 gone first.
California still the only F-Car with a wet sump. 70% of new CA buyers are 1st time F-Car owners. The CA is not a true Ferrari in the traditional sense, but was a profitable market for Ferrari to invade. Regardless, best of luck in whatever makes you happy.
None of that should keep you from buying a car you like. As much as many Ferraristi would like to deny Cali is a real Ferrari, it is. The same guy who designed my 599 also designed the California and the GranTurismo. That doesn't make my 599 less of a Ferrari, or the GranTurismo I just dumped any more of one. Cali was also the first Fcar with a dual clutch and we know how that turned out. Wet sump is a little different but again, I'm buying one eventually to tool around with the kids in traffic, not track it. Now, It DOES have a flat plane crank and that is undeniably very much Ferrari and frankly to my thinking the heart of the matter. That and the stinking badges.
One of each, in Casino square, Monaco. Special to me because I drove the blue, out-of-frame 612 there JP Image Unavailable, Please Login

Thanks, guys. Pictures won't do her justice come this weekend. She's in DJ Mayo's shop to have all imperfections removed and a color matched polymer applied.
Just got these pics back from a shoot that a couple members did of the car awhile back. Thank you Matthew Groner and Andrew Weber. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
