Lovely looking combo, black is beautiful, but a bit laborsome to keep looking great. BTW what is that center console cubby/glove box thingy? Is it custom made or was there an option like that for the late M's? I've never seen one before. Cheers, Pekka T. Fin.
Pekka, you will have the answer to your question in the thread I posted on 12-2014: "456 M GT Elbow Support Box"...You could post there.
Thank you Taz. You "chatted" with the previous owner, ccr2002 about these exact wheels and car on 04/07/09. What can you tell me about the VIN and Chassis #. Can I get a build sheet or duplicate Monroney label? Thanx, You are the voice of reason and common sense on this site.
Great idea the lack of storage in the 456 is annoying for a GT. I just can't get tired of this car... Pure elegace, raw power and classic styling with many design elements borrowed from the 275. I will NEVER sell this car. So many great memories, some not so good, but one can always fight a difficulty. It just make the bond stronger. It is more than fast enough and can be driven everywhere in no time! Erik, fabulous car, has your paint job been finished? Think the same way regarding mine.... Saluti, Jürgen
Hi Jürgen. Yes, they put it back together now... Windows and doors came back on today. Not yet sanded and polished, but I might just do it myself. I have done it before but it takes a lot of time and I can save some money by doing it myself. Spring is here already and I have even been out test driving the 83 Quattroporte after I put the engine together after the heads have been off and refurbished. It is a litt early for putting the boats in the water, so all car projects must be done now when I have the time. How is your car season doing in Switzerland? I might take a few trips this summer down there if time and $ allow me to. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ciao E., wonderful car the Maranello's ... Where did you take the photo in Italy ..? Best Fabio p.s. : the test of your C. is very close ....
Grazie Fabio. The picture was taken at Villa d'Este, Lago di Como. Now, I just wanted to get out on the water in a boat to make the day perfect, but maybe in the future... Capristo and Fiammenghi headers will be an interesting combination for sure. I will put on the original mufflers now when the car is finished in paint just to do the annual inspection. The drone in the Capristos with standard headers is so bad at idle that I can not live with it!!
The car is stunning the colour looks almost purple due the reflection. Note self learn to take better pictures.
Hi Erik, So, but that's not from this year, right? (You did not yet get that car back onnthe road and drive to Cernobbio?) I know that spot well, one of my favorite places. You know up here we (and you swedes too) used to build houses out of wood and paint them so they would look like they were made of stone (more valuable). But apparently in Italy (Lombardy, etc.) they built houses of stone but then painted the surface to look like it was made of wood! Maybe I can dig out some of my photos, but it may be I did not take one with the 456 GT at that spot...
Hi Pekka. That is pretty interesting.. I did not know that the Italians painted the stone houses. The picture was taken July 2015 on my little "trip" of 6500 kms. I painted the car afterwards, and am going to pick it up in about two weeks. I am more than looking very much to a new summer with some fast V12 driving in Europe now!! And test out the new luggage set too..
Hi Erik, Sorry, I did not mean they paint ALL houses that way, but just the fact that they did at least that one (as seen in your photo) was a bit surprising to me. (Ok, I did study architecture, and also historic Italian architecture) So I take it that at a location like that (Cernobbio, Lago di Como) they would build stone houses, but wanted to give an impression of a nice wooden villa in the garden instead. And there you have it. Back to 456's and photos, we only did ca. 3500 kms last year, even though we had a few extra curves. BTW that same house can be seen in the background in this first shot at VdE May 24th 2015: (and that one with the V12 E is from 2013, same place plus one from our way back, just before St.Moritz...
