When the 550's were out I had already purchased a 328 GTB. The president of our local club drove a 550 and I always admired it. Some 15 years later I got the itch and starting looking. After several months of searching and PPI's I found one that had some mileage, but had been well taken care of. I made the purchase, had the local Ferrari shop sort it out for me and away we go. It's Grigio Titanio with light and dark grey interior. A fantastic, fun car. The attached picture was taken after a 200 mile run with the Houston Fiat club through the Texas Hill Country. So please excuse the bugs on the front end. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Miles mean nothing as long as it was Serviced on schedule. I already have close to 70 K miles on my 98 550. It runs perfectly no problems just fun ! Cheers
Hi Gsbarr. Very elegant color combo. Do you have to have a tag also at the front of the car in Texas?
Yes, I understand that Texas is one of eleven or thirteen states that have a law requiring it. Texas has had it for a while but just started enforcing it. I was with a friend in his Corvette a couple of months ago when he got stopped for not having a plate in front. Of course at a recent local Ferrari club luncheon, out of about 15-20 Ferraris I was the only one with a front plate. The plate bracket I have screws into the tow hook socket. I've gotten used to it. Don't like it but it beats a$250 fine.
Here in Europe, all cars have to have a tag up front... But they are a bit wider and narrower. Speed cameras in northern Europe shoot you in the front, but in southern Europe they usually shoot you from behind. A lot of "speed demons" use to run without the front tag, but it is very unpopular with the police... There must be 100% possible to verify from the picture taken, which person who drove the car, so a few put the sunvisor down and get away with it without any penalty. I use to brake right before them and avoid the trouble instead. And run two tags, one in each end. I got stopped in Texas with dealer tags from Sacramento last year... The police officer was more friendly than expected!!
Very beautiful and elegant color combination on this 575 Superamerica: Image Unavailable, Please Login

Frédéric- That is a really late 550 you have. They were building 575s at the same time she was on the assembly line. Great photos. Looks like the far end one could possibly be a 575M, but not enough detail to tell for sure.
Probably repost but insanely good 550gt video for those that haven't seen it: http://youtu.be/HlCeMFPC6HM
My Maranello 124995 is about the 123rd from the end. I've only identified three 575 manufactured before mine, I assume in June/July 2001. These are the well knowned 123761, 123764 and 123765. Next are 125370, 125371,... On the pictures I've taken yesterday, there are only 550, all in Grigio Titanio. Mine is number 4, yesterday among 13 other 550, it was the youngest. Fred.
That is what I have as well, Frederic. I own 125727 which is 60th from the end (also Grigio Titanio) and there are a couple of members here who have cars even later than that. It's very interesting.
